Yes that's judge people by their appearance, Buttner is a chav as he has tattoos and a short hair cut. When he had long hair(which wasn't to long ago) he was one of them devil worshipping rock loving types.

Clyne must be one of them black youngsters that mug old ladies and hang about in gangs.

Why not while we are at it judge people from where they are from, that's watch out for hub caps around Lambert. He is scouse after all!..

Then there's judging people by their age, Godder's must be one of them racist old folks. That hates anyone that isn't English.

As for Barton yes he is a twat.

Barton wouldn't be such a hard man if he was put in a proper prison, not one of these rich people ones. Chuck him in kingston prison and see how tough he is when he's released. Looking over his shoulder every second wit an arse like a 50p.

I'm not suggesting that it is an excuse. In fact, I've just read through my post and my first line mentioned my opinion of Barton, and then I compared him to other bad lads. I then suggested that football might want to tighten up its act, before another player with a fiery temper comes along.

I really do wish people would actually read a post rather than bend one to their own interpretation.

As it happens, I only wrote the original post so that I could end it with...

How do you solve a problem like Joey..? How do you catch a cloud and pin it down..? [now where have you read/heard those words before..? <quiz..?> :) ]

    ...and I forgot.

If by 'smart and articulate' you mean copying and pasting quotes and big words into Twitter - then yes he is. Plus his 'dark side' is just down to the fact he is a bit thick

On purely footballing ability, and without considering being sent off for stupid things as football ability, Barton vs Steve Davis in your Saints 11?

Barton just edges it for me.

Making assumptions about what people think and how they might behave is the evil at the root of racism and all other forms of prejudice.

I read Buttner's background and a little of his history and it is based on that information that I made my comment. I do not believe he is the type of person who would fit in with our squad when you look at how our players behave and the way we recruit and train players in the Academy.

What have tatoos and haircuts to do with anything?

Your post stated that football tolerates bad behaviour, and that other players wind him up.

I said that this is a bad thing.

In what way have I bent your words to my own interpretation? <doh>

Just because he's had a bad past does not mean it's how he is now?.
The tattoo and hair cut comment was more at your comment at how he looks like a chav. As we all know you can't judge a book by it's cover.

I judge book by its cover. Like if the cover has the word 'Grey' on it, I know it will be total rubbish. If it has 'Dan Brown' on it, I know it will be poorly written rubbish...

You suggested that I was indicating that it was an excuse for his bad behaviour. I wasn't. I was just illustrating all sides of the deal. You do that in a reasoned argument.

And if it's J K Rowling, it's poorly written rubbish with a few wands thrown in.

For most other clubs Barton would have to be shipped out, but thankfully for QPR they can afford to put up with him a little longer. I can't think of too many clubs who would a) want to buy him, or b) afford him, so the way to deal with him is to drug his food and play him sparingly.

The question is more 'How the f*ck can he be allowed on a pitch?', I don't think some of the actions he's done (stubbing a cigar on youth player, starting brawls...) are results of wind-ups but just that he's a thug.
