Yeah, like a brick wall, I think two defensive midfielders in a 442 would be a little bland, Green can get forward so perhaps Green - Austin would be a better option
Its probably the way forward, and brown on later to sure things up !! are you happy with Alex Bruce signing for you guys ? Aluko is a cracking bit of business pal. Interesting article on the SC http://www.thescratchingshed.com/2012/07/leeds-look-to-spend-but-who-on/
TBH I'm on the fence about Bruce, I havn't seen him play much, he's been decent in friendlies whilst on trial apparently, OLM has a automatic hatred towards him, has a theory that nepotism will destroy our dressing room from the inside out, can you shed any light on him, is he that bad or will he be decent backup for Chester, Faye, Hobbs and Cooper at least
As fans of any club there is always mixed opinion on players, personally for me he is a good back up player, whenever he was called on he did a good job for us, he wont be the first name on your team sheet, but as I said as back up he will do a job for you he got injured and didnt figure for a while, but if he plays like he did against Arsenal then OLM will eat his words.
He won't play like he did against Arsenal. Guaranteed. Glad to see Hull fans aren't being taken for fools with that signing, it's dreadful. Putting their hard-earned money into the club just to see it spent on Steve Bruce's welfare scheme for his son.
It does sound quite strange to get a player like Bruce when we have enough defenders, perhaps his old man is just giving him a free ride
Apparently the Allams were rumoured to have blocked the move, if true, he's already causing problems before he's signed!
Green was offered a contract on reduced terms. Also if I remember correctly the other teams in for him weren't brilliant.
It was all over Derby forums etc. if I remember correctly. Us being poor last season doesn't make Paul Green promotion standard.
Can't say Green is anything more than a very average player with limited abilities, hence he way playing for a team like Derby County. We now appear to have many players with similar abilities in the squad, all of which is average and that is very worrying. Unless we bring in players who have quality and the ability to create things on the park, we will be in trouble.
Derby hate us now, well they join a long list of teams that 'hate' us, for no apparent reason. Excuses me thinks, he's just not very good and that's what they are trying to say.
Have you been to a leeds derby game recently? And he may not be a world beater but hes ok, grafts much harder than last years midfield. They just say he terrible cos he signed for us, in the same way many people say johnson/howson/snodgrass werent that good
J'sus he grafts, that says it all. What ever happened to quality players, who can pass the ball to feet and who set up and sometimes complete a move? Green is not that good, he's average for The Championship, so don't expect miracles. I would suggest that Derby fans know more about him than Leeds fans, so take what they say and you will probably find out they are right within a few games. Edit: I was a Derby County FC Youth Squad player in the late 70's & I can't remember any hatred of Leeds United. There was the Clough issue and he hated Leeds, but never felt it went anywhere near the Derby fans. Any hatred now must be a new thing for whatever reason someone decided.
Agreed, too many people having a pop at players before they have kicked a ball in anger for us, and Boab is that the same Derby that owned us in, oh midfield, as for forums simon get a grip we all know lots when it comes to players formations and such like thats why we are all managers, Colin is in his retirement season he is going to go all out for that one last promotion, what with due bastard dilligence and everything else I for one think he is doing a cracking job under circumstances that would leave most managers grasping at straws.
Most of them play in the premier league. And grafting is half the battle in the champ. Hard work helps take control of the midfield. Granted he needs to play alongside someone more technically gifted to be really effective but individually he is ok. And they may do but dont expect them to be 100% truthful. Remember these are fans that wanted to keep him until it became clear he wanted out, then he miraculously became '****'
That's why I raised the point about them wanting rid of him before our name was properly linked in the press. Please people, I can't be the only one questioning this bloke's authenticity. Anyway, Derby do have a real small-time jealousy of Leeds, there's no doubting that. Still a lot of Leeds fans in the north of their county, plus the fact they've never been as successful/big as us and the Revie/Clough business. Same goes for Nottingham Forest.
