Now then Lads, My birthday today, not that it matters like but 55 today. Was reminiscing with my head earlier about the good times and bad times in life and looked at myself for the last 3 years and my role in looking after a thriving near 3 year old girl and a totally motionless but inspiring partner. You know what, I do believe bad things happen to good people as my experience now into the world of truly handicapped people has opened my eyes no end. The NHS for my Lollie have been brilliant in exception of time to get things done and for some reason qualified nerologists and surgeons feeling the need to big themselves up to you when your partner is laid there in a heap.. I'll stop moaning now to say after nearly 3 years of bringing up my Ella, looking after a vegetable state Lollie, there is a light at the end of the tunnel. After a 2nd test today, my Lollie is responding to intrathecal baclofen in her spine and it's the 1st stages of getting her leg down and working again so for us it's a lottery win. Don't want to bore you lads but I have mates on here going back to 2005 so I thought I'd share my delight. Stuck 'Comfortably Numb' on the Ipod dock tonight and my 3 year old Ella was mesmerised. She asked if daddy can pop that song on again and my tears were there to see.. Take care lads, your a great bunch and although I don't post much, I read when I can.. Ha'waaaaaaay the f****n Laaaaaaaaaaaaaaaads..
Nice one mate, hope it turns out the way you need it to, And the choice of song is as good as any. God bless.
All the best Joe - you've certainly been thru it mate. Its my turn next week - 53 next Friday 17th. Bart
Happy birthday bonny lad. Watching GB ladies 1-0 up against Brazil with a beer in hand. I shall raise a few more glasses over the night to toast you and your lasses.
MR, Bart & Bill.. Don't come any better than you lads and lets not forget Billy & Reg Sound lads, proper goodfellas & a happy one for next week Bart
I was 56 a few weeks back and I did a fair bit of reminiscing too. Happy birthday Joe and I hope the news keeps getting better for you. Keep the faith.
Happy Birthday Joe. I always read your posts with great interest and am over the moon with your good news.
I'm 56 as well. I still look like I did at 26. **** I looked rough then as well. (I did have a very hard paper round as a kid though.) hhahahahahaha My grandkids love the Floyd as well, Joe. Wings, Band on the Run is popular with them as well. At the moment they have this on repeat on my car CD player. They absolutely love it. You know what it is with me now lads, I just don't give a f**k anymore, watching my Lollie attempt to hand me her card this morning is enough to show you how hard life can be for a person. I love the lass and I have stayed to see her through her nightmare when it would have been so much easier to have walked.. I do think it's only in the '**** has hit the fan' scenario that we show our true colours and as a man that liked to sail close to the wind, I now sail close to home. I have a son who posts on here who is not only in my eyes but many others the nicest lad you could ever meet going through his own turmoil with his wife's pregnancy, so we are getting it a bit hard & ready at the mo. The thing is, to love someone and to believe in them is probably the best down to earth cure you can have. Like I said, from 2005 on the old 606 boards you knew who was who and who was sound. Internet none-ties who became friends simply because they spoke your language. Thanks for the support Lads & thanks for entertaining me in the darkest hours, you are all stars in my eyes and special in a cyber way..
Small steps and all that......... Punch the air!, not too hard mind, don't want any hurt air drifting up to Darlo
Happy birthday, mate. Lot of us in their 50s on the board. Me, I'm only forty-ten Know how you feel though. My lad is severely handicapped from a brain virus he picked up when he was 3 weeks old. His life was saved by the paediatric consultants in the local NHS hospital. Top blokes and all Iraqis, curiously enough. Biggest bunch of cut-throats if looks were all you had to go on, but top docs the lot of them.
Well, well old man, at last a glimmer of hope and I could not be more pleased. Long way to go I know but at least its that long awaited start. Somehow new strikers seem very unimportant right now.
