Same old stories, it's like the magic roundabout at times... Sunderland have emerged as front-runners in the chase for Blackburn midfielder Steven N'Zonzi, Sky Sports understands. The 23-year-old looks set to quit Ewood Park this summer after being left out of Rovers' pre-season camp in Austria. N'Zonzi was targeted by a host of clubs in January, but Rovers stood firm as they looked to battle against relegation. Steve Kean's side were unsuccessful in their attempts to beat the drop and N'Zonzi has made it clear he does not wish to play in the Championship. The Frenchman is now being tracked by a host of Premier League clubs with Tottenham, Aston Villa,Stoke City and West Ham all keen. But it is now understood that Sunderland are in pole position to capture N'Zonzi, although no club has yet agreed a fee with Rovers.
Been going the rounds for a few month this one mate could be something in it and, a player who does look good. Having said that we will have to shed some CMs as we have way too many at the minute.
True mate, See there is now a thread on it...... Keeps the board alive i guess...... Decent player mind.
Aston Villa hope to offload James Collins to Sunderland when they bring in fellow defender Ron Vlaar. Villa are closing in on the signature of Feyenoord centre-back Vlaar, but while the 27-year-old has a buy-out clause, new boss Paul Lambert still has to balance the books. Collins, 28, is ripe for being moved on because he has just 12 months left on his contract. The Wales stopper was signed for Villa by then-boss Martin O'Neill, who is now in charge at Sunderland and remains a big fan of Collins. Friends reunited: Villa hope O'Neill will want to buy Collins again Matthew Lewis Villa now hope to do a deal with the Black Cats - who have already snapped up centre-half Carlos Cuellar on a Bosman this summer following the expiration of his Villa contract - for the Welshman. However, the acrimonious nature of O'Neill's exit from Villa two years ago means his former employers are likely to drive a hard bargain.
According to reports Blackburn Rovers are interested in Sunderland defender Matt Kilgallon. The People claims Rovers boss Steve Kean is eyeing the centre-back. It is understood the Scot is to make a move for the Black Cats defender this week. KiIgallon could arrive as a replacement for Scott Dann, who is interesting Southampton. Sunderland manager Martin O'Neill insists there has been no interest from Blackburn Rovers in defender Matt Kilgallon. The 28-year-old has struggled to make an impact at the Stadium of Light after his arrival from Sheffield United in 2010, but made 10 Premier League appearances in the second half of last season following O'Neill's appointment as manager. However, the signing of Carlos Cuellar on a free transfer has prompted speculation about Kilgallon's future and he has missed Sunderland's trip to South Korea due to a minor injury. Blackburn had been linked with a bid for the stopper, but O'Neill says his priority is to bring more players in, rather than reduce his squad. "I genuinely have not heard anything about Matt Kilgallon going to Blackburn. That story is complete news to me!" said O'Neill in the Sunderland Echo. "At the moment we are looking to bring players in and that's what we are working on. "We have targeted a few players and we are in the throes of that at the moment. But as things stand, there's nothing new to report in that direction."
Right currently we have 4 so-called average at best forwards, Ji, Wickham, Campbell and Noble, we need to sell/loan out two of them and bring 2 good experienced strikers in. I hope the jaunt to SK has made MoNs miond up who to keep and who has to be moved. I also expect that why we have not made a move for a couple of strikers yet. Please MoN get on with it! p.s. a creative midfielder would be good also
Oh ffs do these people never give up.. Bordeaux are braced for a bidding frenzy after confirming they would listen to any offers for the highly-rated winger Yoan Gouffran. The 26-year-old caught the eye of a number of clubs around Europe with his 14 goals in an impressive season with the French side last time out. Aston Villa, Everton, Newcastle and Sunderland have all been linked with the forward in recent weeks. Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger tried to sign him after he was part of Caen's successful promotion push to the French top-flight and was named as Ligue 2 Player of the Year. The winger, though, chose to remain in France and eventually signed a five- year contract at Bordeauxin 2008. But the Frenchman has yet to sign an extension and as he is able to leave for nothing next summer when his contract runs out Bordeaux are eager to cash in on their prize asset. http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11095/7938359/Gouffran-heads-for-Bordeaux-exit
Dean Marek Rowlands‏@DMROWLANDS Fernando Llorente signed for Sunderland last week. Both clubs accepted a bid. In the next few days he will be sorting personal terms!
No player would sign if he hadn't already sorted out personal terms. You don't sign a contract without having all the details settled beforehand. Another phony story I guess

SUPPORTERS’ hopes of seeing Connor Wickham make a dream return to Portman Road appear to have fallen at the first hurdle after Paul Jewell admitted Ipswich would have to pay 75% of his wages during any loan spell. Comments Email Print Got a story? Rumours surfaced at the weekend that Sunderland might look to loan Wickham out following a disappointing first season in the Premier League following his £8.1 million move from Suffolk. This fuelled speculation that the 19-year-old might be set for a sensational return to Ipswich on a season-long loan. But manager Paul Jewell has all but ruled out a bid for Wickham due to the expense it would incur Town. He explained: “I do think we have first call on Connor (should he got out on loan). “But we would have to pay three-quarters of his wages and we don’t have that type of money.” The teenage striker started just five games during his debut campaign at Sunderland following his big-money move from Town last summer. Manager Martin O’Neill on Monday revealed that he would ‘not be adverse’ to some of his players going out on loan. However, a source close to the player has told www.greenun24.co.uk that there is ‘absolutely nothing’ in the Ipswich rumours and that the teenager is concentrating on fighting for a first team place at The Stadium of Light.
There getting desperate ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- By CHRIS YOUNG Published on Thursday 2 August 2012 10:51 NEW Wolves boss Stale Solbakken has hinted that Steven Fletcher could still be sold despite rejecting Sunderland’s £10m offer. Sunderland saw their bid for striker Fletcher turned down by the Championship outfit earlier this week, with the Black Cats now considering whether to make a fresh move for the 25-year-old. Despite Fletcher’s eagerness to remain in the Premier League, Wolves are desperate to keep the Scot at Molineux – believing he offers the best chance of returning to the top flight at the first time of asking. Financially, Wolves are secure, and only a bid that totals at least £12m is likely to tempt them into offloading their top scorer from the last two seasons. Solbakken, who succeeded caretaker boss Terry Connor earlier this summer, says he is planning for Fletcher to be a key member of the side, although he acknowledges that Wolves face a battle to keep the former Burnley and Hibs frontman before the transfer window shuts at the end of the month. “We’re looking all the time at targets, but you don’t replace Fletcher overnight – that’s impossible,” said Solbakken. “It’s a long, long month now coming up, but at the moment he’s a Wolves player and we’re planning with him. “Everybody at Wolves wants to keep him. But even Lionel Messi has a price.” Stoke, Fulham and Aston Villa have all made enquiries about Fletcher, although Sunderland are thought to be the only club to have tabled a concrete bid for the striker. But Fletcher is not the only target, with O’Neill claiming the Black Cats have made bids for a “number of players”. Manchester City frontman John Guidetti, who notched 20 goals during a season-long loan with Feyenoord last year, remains on the radar, while free agent Louis Saha has confirmed his desire to join the Wearsiders.
