There is a song by a duo called 'Show Of Hands' called 'Roots'.
Im too stupid to cut & paste the lyrics but it really should be the English national anthem :)
It's about being proud to be English without the racist bollox that usually goes with it.

I would lke Ireland to adopt a classic song called "My Lovely Horse", lyrics by Fathers Dougal and Ted.

Much underrated, key changes to die for and the lyrics would make you weep.

Imaz, you've got to realize that minorities are only in the UK because they were allowed in. Who gives a fu*k if the Muslims don't like summat? Can you imagine the reaction of the Natives of say Pakistan, if a load of white Western Christians / atheists settled there and decided that they wanted to change everything that is Islamic about the Country because it "offended" them? The reaction would be swift and deadly.

Seriously, the English must be the most patient and tolerant people in the whole World with the way their Country has been almost overrun with immigrants from every corner of the globe. The cynic might point to the fact that England poked her nose into practically every Country on the Atlas and that her zealous "adventurism" is now coming back to haunt her with every damn foreigner claiming the right or indeed having the right to come and live in the Mother Country.

Even allowing for that, the multiculturalism that has been hoisted onto the English people is unprecedented. So much so that the indigenous population are being pushed aside by immigrants who have no desire to assimilate or have no respect for the British way of life.

Queens, you're a guest in Australia yet you're having a go at her people and her customs. Again, if you don't like it mate you should tip on back to your own Country.

As for MustyFrog, don't make me laugh. On your profile it says that you was born and reared in the UK yet you're calling yourself Australian! What a fake you are.

Queensy, you're one of the best on here no question. And yes, Australians can be very arrogant particularly when it comes to sport.

I just think to criticize one's hosts is bad manners, that's all mate. I've no doubt your points are valid.

Another great point there Fingi. On the ball as usual.

Indeed the treatment of the Abo's was dreadful and something no Australian could be proud of today. Don't know what the situation is like now but I presume its far better than it was decades and centuries ago.

Certainly is mate and a lot of them dont help themselves. Drugs also an issue with younger generation.

A lot of them are nice people but trying to overcome peoples predudices is never gonna be easy, especially as they were effectively still slaves 30 or so years ago.
Also a lot of land has been given back to the people, and that obviously doesnt go down well with some. Got to remeber that Brisbane is still just a big town and not a city in its economics or social ideas.
Just growing up, prob 20yrs behind London...which aint such a bad thing at times..

Had my Ozzie cousins over a few weeks ago and they said their neighbourhood was turning to sh*t because of a load of Abo's moving in. It seems to me like they're viewed almost identically to how gypsies are viewed over here. I.E. Largely with contempt (Lazy, cheating, in-bred, smelly, spongers etc etc).

As you say, prejudices are hard to overcome and the indigenous minorities are usually seen as a nuisance. Put people in cages and sooner or later they'll start acting like monkeys.
