The 27-year-old joined Milan from Marseille last summer but struggled for a regular first-team place, spending the second half of the campaign on loan at Premier League club QPR. After being frozen out in pre-season at Milan, he has opted to move again. "Coming to the Ukraine is a great opportunity for me to earn a regular first-team place," he told BBC Sport. "I know Milan is a big club but I am not a player who is happy to sit down, collecting salary without playing football. "I've considered a lot of things and I realised going elsewhere for regular football is greater than a life on the Milan bench." Dynamo Kiev have been given an option to sign Taiwo outright for â¬2m at the end of the season. BBC Sport understands English Premier League pair Queens Park Rangers and Reading, Portuguese side Benfica and French outfit Marseille approached AC Milan for the Nigerian. But his wage demands derailed talks of a switch to England, Portugal or a return to former club Marseille, where he is still a crowd favourite. Taiwo explained: "It was a dream to move to AC Milan but to be honest I never had the chance to show what I am capable of doing but that is life. "I chose to come to Dynamo Kiev because of the opportunity to play in the Uefa Champions League and also to experience a new life. "It was very important to consider my international career and I took this decision with that in mind." Taiwo will play alongside compatriots Yusuf Ayila, Lukman Haruna and Brown Ideye at Dynamo. "I know them [the Nigerians] from the national team set-up. I have been friends with Yusuf [Ayila] for several years. That makes it a lot easier to settle down. All four players were part of the Nigerian squad that went to the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/19051305?
Such a shame, I absolutey loved the fella. And have up until this news still retained hope we'd sign him. Good luck Taye.
If it was wage demands it's good to see we're going to be strong enough to say no and not just give in to everyones demands. I'd like to wish him all the best for the future and thank him for last season
So the reason we didn't take up our option to buy was that Taiwo's wage demands would've been too high for us. If that's true it's good enough for me. At least someone was prepared to fork out. Good luck to him.
Looks as though wage demands scuppered us. We have to be realistic on 18,000 gates, so I wish him all the best for the future and thank him for last seasons performances.
Yes it's a shame we couldn't hold on to him for another season and good luck to him. The point about European football is absolutely clear and understandable. Glad to see that we do have a line on wages beyond which we are not prepared to go in certain cases. For a while I was concerned that any wages were possible at the club so my worries about our finances in the future are allayed ever so slightly.
it'd be interesting to find out what he's on at Milan. all our new signings appear to be in the 50-60k a week bracket. he would have been the same?
Ok,he was a solid defender, but lacked a bit of pace and I dont think hes good enough to be on massive wages with us. Thanks and next LB please!
He played his part in the Great Escape, and always made me smile with his attitude and post match celebrations. I think he's a better player than he showed with us, was growing into the Prem and would have really come good next season. But he hasn't got a hope with Milan - Maldini was the greatest ever in his position, and still fresh in the memory. Can't be lived up to. Good luck Taye - you got SOUL.
The first game he played for us at Villa he did not have a clue what position he should of been in. He did improve after that though and became a reasonable standard prem full back
Think he would has been immense under Sparky's guidance, but if he wanted too much cash, then I'm glad we had the b**ls to say no! Good luck to him and he'll prob be back with us by Jan anyway, on loan....
Wage demands? Please, you seriously think Taiwo demands more than we are currently paying to most of our new signings? The fact he was prepared to come to us/Kiev shows that he definitely isn't in it for the money.
