Hear hear, this is going to be one motivated player to prove he deserves his place. I don't agree that Cooper and Bradley are better - experience counts for a lot.
What I don't get is that Bruce senior went on record saying that signing his own son at Brum caused problems in the changing room..........so he's done it again?!?! Just don't get it. The Allams sacked Nick for virtually nothing and they cave in for Bruce over something that could ruin the season! Bad, bad, bad! If he plays ahead of............well, anyone who isn't injured or suspended and I'll be furious. Even then, why would you give him the nod ahead of Cooper or Bradley?
I think that's a nonsense English attitude. Age means bugger all. We have this obsession with gradually introducing young players into senior football over such a long period of time that by the time they play regularly they are 22/23. It's ridiculous. Based on what I've seen Cooper is a very good defender and suitable to play at this level already and Bradley looks solid too. Bruce didn't look anywhere near as good as those two at Ferriby or Winterton, though admittedly I didn't see him at Rochdale.
Based on some of his comments I just don't think Bruce has faith in a player if he isn't old enough. He didn't use McClean at Sunderland last season and he turned out to be one of their best players and he made some comments after Ferriby suggesting that if a player doesn't have much 'experience' they don't count as a first team player.
Calm down... I doubt he'll get much game time. I reckon it was a case of the same with ***an and Hughes... cover where we're depleted. Except with Hobbs injured and only Chester and Faye experienced enough to play, this signing was needed. ***an and Hughes were not. Still expect 2 more signings before the window shuts
I have read a few match reports in games that he's played in, doesn't seem too bad tbh. I'll cast judgement when I've ACTUALLY seen him play a few league games, rather than say he's ****e based on 1 or 2 friendlies and hearsay.
Never particularly been a fan but he's a city player now so I think we'll just have to be getting behind him. I'm hoping Bruce has season long loans lined up for both cooper and Bradley that will end up much more beneficial than being back up to Chester, Hobbs and Faye. SB isn't thick, he'll know full well what folk will say so I doubt he'd put himself in jeopardy in a new job if he didn't think it was worth it.
Bruce senior said everyone starts with a clean sheet and he's been largely commended for that. Most of these posters, however, are ready to hang a man before he's done a crime. Are these the same firing squad that turned against the allams but have shut up since? Let the manager do his job and the owner do theirs. We do ours by supporting not sniping.
TBH, I don't think we need him, with Faye, Chester, Hobbs, Cooper, Bradley and McShame all avaliable in that position anyway. Hopefully Steve Bruce can handle him, as it can always be a big mistake to have your son in the team and will potentially cause unrest in the rest of the squad.
If he can play any position along the back, then right back is probably the area he will mostly cover. With Rossy injuries, and McShame doesn't look comfortable to me at right back, then probably he is a better option from that position, but only as back up.
The odd thing is, if he's being brought in as a right back, then why did he play centre back on Saturday, while we played with two left backs?
You have to give him a chance... To write him off before he starts is the sort of negativity that hcafc fans are renowned for.... I think SB would have thought long and hard before offering him a deal. You can also guarantee he is way down the list in terms of money earners at the club
Yeah, you're right. I worry he'll get ripped apart by the likes of Snodgrass...................wait on a mo....................ah, no problem!
