We already have the foundation for having a good go. There was no way that we could do anythgin without a complete overhaul. But the issue with a coimplete overhaul is that the players need to gel together quickly and that is a problem for any club. What we need to be aware of is that this squad has a much better chance than any we have had in the past few years. And every other team is competing against us too - sport is never a walkover as some would like to make it sound
What about quality in the squad? As far as I can see the only player with actual quality is Austin, the rest are physical players who try to give 100% on the pitch. Edit: Has Austin actually signed for us yet?
The rest are regular ex-Prem players. Which automatically puts them way ahead of the quality we have had previously. I don't comprehend such negativity - you've been eating ristac too much
In a word BOAB, yes. He wouldn't have taken the job if he didn't think he could get the players to do the job.
Boab please do not try to turn this board into another JA606. The negativity there stinks. Neither Norwich or Southampton had a team of class players yet both got promoted. And how do you Know Austin is quality? A few youtube clips....come on be real, he has still to prove himself in this league. Get behind Warnock and the lads and start the whinging after Jan if we're bottom half of the table.
Based on his signings for QPR last August - No! Even if he did get you promoted you wouldn't want to keep him in charge the following season as his record in the L is abysmal to say the least.
To which game do you refer? The win at white hart lane, draw at the emerites or win over villa. Terrible run in. How was your end of season form?
The only poor results in our run in was away at Blackburn where we lost 2-0 and home to Liverpool and lost 3-0. They were both dire performances but they those kind of performances were in the minority last season and hopefully will be again this time.
Oh, and the same doesn't apply to us with Warnock's 21% win rate? I for one am not being 'negative'. I'm just speaking from my heart based on what I've seen so far from Neil Warnock. I think he's got the predictable signings out of the way now - the blood and thunder types he can motivate to get us the 0-0 draws and 1-0 wins many Leeds fans seem to be ****ing over. But he now has to seek these 'marquee' signings - properly skilful players who will be the real test of whether we're promotion quality or not. When has he ever made signings like that before? He says he wants Varney to replace Snodgrass and only three more signings are needed, one of which is Peltier. If that happens, is it still 'give Neil a chance', or is it time to do the sensible thing and appoint a transfer overseer? The Championship is changing. If we don't go up, it's not 'oh well' if Warnock's been properly backed. It's 'get your ****ing act together'. I'm all for giving Warnock three seasons if he needs it - I don't believe sacking managers is a successful tactic much of the time, and especially not ones with his track record - but I have little faith in his ability to deliver the forward-thinking strategy needed to make this club great again. Do we want full measures or half-measures?
The bonus for us is that Warnock can make an average looking team of grafters hard to beat. No doubt about it he has assembled a group of average ability players. I am not sure how too many fans can get excited about signing half a team that finished lower than us and apart from one player, Pearce it wasn't the better half. I believe our season hinges on the next couple of signings, if they are creative midfielders with pace great, if not then we are in for another mid table finish and I would expect to see far closer results, maybe a 2-1 defeat or a 1-0 - Yes we will be harder to beat but we shall also find it a lot harder to score goals.
I have complete faith in Warnocks ability, as much as i believe a takeover is ongoing, i don't feel we will see to much this year, i hope the new board hands Warnock an extended deal. I think Warnock can make a team worthy of top half Championship football with a sell to buy scheme (Leeds) but with a few million pumped in for transfers he can get Leeds promoted very easily.
I feel more confident with Warnock than I did with Grayson. I believe Warnock will be a hard task master and the team will have to perform... Or else. Just hope we get the quality signings he keeps mentioning..because we have the makings of a solid looking team but only time will tell...
