The reason I say this, is that now instead of looking for snoddy to win or set goals up we may play more as a team. Yes Snoddy great player but if we get a pacey winger to go with White this may actually be better. Warnock is building from the back so a consistant 1-0 win will do me rather 4-3 win followed by 6-0 loss. Anyway onward and upwards .
As I posted elsewhere, this is so much better that we have all mediocre players instead of a couple of shining stars which would unbalance the team.
None of the players we have are "mediocre". FFS. The Portsmouth players we have taken on are players who recently plyed their trade in the Premiership, Austin is the Norwegian player of the season, Kenny and Drury were regular players in the Prem. We have not had this quality of player in a long time. Plus we have a manager who is renowned for building a "team", not just hoping that a bunch of players who come togetehr will work well together. We are in the best position for our club than we have been in for years.
Norris hasn't played a single game in the PL, Varney scored 5 goals in his career highlight. Green is the very definition of "mediocre" too. As it is our entire midfield looks ****e, but Warnock just wants to stockpile strikers we don't need.
You've not even given them a chance to become players and you slag off our own players and manager already. I can understand slagging off Bates and the corporate side, but I prefer to back our current players at least until I have seen them and seen what they are trying to do and work out how they are doing as a team. Maybe I am just naive
Would you classify any as "standouts?" Would you put them at the same level as Snoddy - a matchwinner?
I just love all these clairvoyants who are giving their opinion on our ****e or mediocre players. Not one of these players have played a single game in anger for LUFC yet, so how the **** can you determine how badly they're going to do? You can't, simple as that. Warnock is building a squad, and each of them has been hand-picked. They have not been signed in the last 48 hours of the transfer window, so it's safe to assume they are really wanted. And wanted by a man famed for building championship squads that win promotion. And you all think you know better! So to all you amatuer pundits that think they know so much - just **** off or shut up! Show me your credentials to make predictions. That's right, not one single credential between you! You're guessing like the rest of us.
I'd say the squads looking a lot more solid than under Grayson just lacking 2 or 3 quality players which he's admitted he needs
Funnily enough though they have all played football before, and have proved over the course of their careers that they are not particularly good. We're allowed to form our own opinions of the squad no matter what Warnock's reputation is.
I actually agree with that YWBK, but Snoddy was the one flair player we had left. This is more about what we have lost as opposed to what we have brought in.
Funny how Whitejock and others aren't having a go at the 'clairvoyants' who think we'll do well. But anything blindly positive is fine, right?
I did go off on one a little bit, didn't I? Apologies to all if I was a bit OTT. I could have presented my point a little better. As for your point, Jerel, it's quite simple. The last thing I want for our team is for their confidence to be knocked before the season starts. They or their friends will be scouring sites like ours to see what their reception is like. And what's it like? We're panning people before they've even played competitive football for us! Can't be right. Will I criticise anyone for bigging up a player before he's kicked a ball in anger? Absolutely not. Again, it's the confidence thing. The players are all signed, and they'll be playing. We've got to make the best of what we've got, 'cos it ain't gonna change much short term (apart from our outstanding 'marquee' signings). We've all gotta pul together and get that -15 spirit again.
I'm all for that in the stadium - I'll cheer on any player who tries does their best for Leeds - but see no reason to pretend I have other opinions just on the off chance that Adam Drury's cousin reads not606 and passes on my mean comments earlier. If they can't handle some flak from the fans, they should get a profession where they aren't in the spotlight. We pay their wages at the end of the day. That goes for managers, directors and backroom staff too.
Could be the opposite whitejock - They might feel that they have a point to prove. Remember how the team went out and clawed those minus point back under Wise? Sometimes it is the expectation that weighs heavy. I have no doubt that they will all receive a great reception come the first couple of games of the season. Add to that the excitement that we should have new owners revealed by then the excitement levels should be through the roof
