The British national anthem.....should be changed to Baggy Trousers by Madness

Could you imagine the athletes bogling around on the podium?

    England, England
We have higher taxes than nearly everyone else
    England, England
The St George's flag only flutters outside the council houses of mental neo-fascists
    England, England
Famous for having loads of video cameras all over the place
    England, England
Our culture consists of being repressive towards your feelings and being servile towards authority
    England, England
So keep a stiff upper lip, keep that pecker up and be really proud of being born in this geographical terrority

Will that do? The last two verses even rhyme.

No...I am not British, European or any other derivative....I was born, raised and lived my life in England. I worked, payed taxes and struggled in England.....
I am..without a doubt English & proud...even being of mixed race..( so that satifies the racist element)

Get offended when i'm called european.

Strange considering my board name eh?

"British by birth..English by the grace of god"!!

I would not mind Jerusalem at all!

The Muslim's believe in Jesus as a profit so there'd be no problem with them. Not sure what the jews believe. Do they believe he's an important religious figure but simply not the son of God?

Afaik Jesus is considered a Jewish nutter and a heretic in Judaism. They had him tried and executed which kind of sums it up.

Lots of Muslims are called Jesus, "Issa", "Essa", "Isa" in Arabic etc.

National Anthems need a decent tune as well as the lyrics.. France, Russia, Germany and Indonesia have decent music, ours is a bit of a dirge to put it politely.

Yes but people's feelings change so I thought maybe their feelings for him had. For example, the Romans wanted Jesus' neck and then what happened later on?

Interestingly, there's a lot of similarity between the story of Jesus and the story of Buddha. They both basically pissed off the orthodox religious people of their day by challenging their ritualism and dogmatism.

Then, ironically, the churches, especially the Catholic one, eventually turned Christianity into something very ritualistic and dogmatic.

Great, NOT606's resident passive anarchist. Looks like you've got 2 options to escape the oppression - emigrate or suicide.

Agree that it seems rather dull. What do you make of the Italian anthem Imaz?

Without knowing what it's about, I do think it's very lively.

Honestly I think it's embarrassing, both the music and the ridiculous lyrics.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Il_Canto_degli_Italiani

    Brothers of Italy,
    Italy has awoken,
    Bound Scipio's helmet
    Upon her head.
    Where is Victory?
Let her offer her locks to [Italy] ,
    Slave of Rome
    God created her.

Actually quite refreshing to read a lot of comments understanding where the welsh are coming from. Norwich fans don't seem to agree to much. I'm welsh and to be honest I don't even know the words to god save the queen so wouldn't be surprised if that was the case with the welsh lads there.
These shouts of being disrespectful from the media are just ridiculous. Being disrespectful would be refusing to stand in line while the anthem is played, not signing is harming no one. They claim we should be coming together as a nation yet single out the welsh in the same article lol!

That should read - Some of the Norwich fans don't seem to agree to much. Personally it doesn't bother me one way or the other.
