The most ****ing depressing article ever: http://www.yorkshireeveningpost.co....4779251?utm_medium=twitter&utm_source=dlvr.it
Maybe it was Warnocks plan to play them both, with Snod in the free role? If that was the case I can see what he is saying in respect to the place on the wing has been filled
sounds like a plan mate, I got over 6 weeks holiday to use yet! Only problem is finding cover, thats why I take so many extended lunches etc!
But, as bang average as Varney is, he still seems obsessed with stocking up on average strikers as our "marquee" signings rather than buying the winger and AM we so desperately need! Varney is not a starter for a promotion chasing squad. To go from Gradel - Howson - Snodgrass to White - Varney - Rogers is the most incredibly depressing transition.
Agree mate, and Snod will be dam near impossible to replace. Still think theres a couple of big signings on the way that may save our season & we certainly look to have a tougher spine at the moment. Imagine our new back five with Gradel Howson Austin Snod Becchio/ another That would be good enough for Autos and we have let them all go for peanuts so I feel your frustration.
The problem is the noises Warnock is making suggest those "big signings" will be a couple of strikers we don't actually need, whereas we have absolutely no creativity in midfield. Never mind buying Beckford when our midfield now wouldn't be able to make enough chances for him to score 5 a season.
It's all looking great. Not seen any official news on Austin, Paynter or AOB yet, but moveement on all 3 would make me happy. The £3.5m we have from Snoddy, Clayton and Lonergan has come in while we have spent about £1.7m I guess on various replacements. It looks like Warnock has his "budget" and is able to use it his way, but it is all shrewd stuff. With losing a couple of other players who are listed, he will make wages and capital available to get those last couple of marquee signings and still be within the same budget we started off with. So as things stand, I see us as much more solid and harder to beat, lots of options and a good squad without being spectacular. We need a left back to further solidify the back. Then the spectacular could come with just one signing, the right one, the Strachan-esque coup. Or you never know, this squad could actually work so well as a team that no more players are needed. Or we could do a 2011/12 Leicester. Whichever, I am much much more optimistic than I was this time last year or the year before.
Simon why can't you just wait and see how he's going to set the team up, and until the rest of his players have signed. Agree that its taken longer than expected, but its happening. What use were our midfield last season when all we saw was teams walking through us and having nobody at the back. How many goals did they create??? Warnock was not going to use Snodds soley on the wing and Varney is for replacing his goals. By the time we have Austin who can stop, distribute, create and score goals I think you'll find that he's twice the player Clayton was. Check out some stats to see how much posesion we had last season and you'll find we were chasing shadows for most of it, and not creating as you said. Everyone banged on about Nunez last summer because he was the biggest name we signed ffs, and we know how that went. I'll give Warnock a kicking if the team let us down, but think we should all stop banging on and leave him to get on with it. He's working his arse off at the minute with his hands tied behind his back, because the t/O hasn't been completed. he's also said that he expects Leeds to be a much bigger club than Norwich in12-months and that to me says he's he's going for promotion this season. he's also been convinced that he'll have the backing to do what he wants to do. Lets all just cut him some slack and cross our fingers. A team isn't one or two star players it's a team of 10 outplayers, playing as an organised unit who can create, score and defend as a unit.
For the first half of the season we had Jonny Howson. We also had Snodgrass who scored or created 40% of our goals last season. Clayton has more creativity alone than all of our new central midfield and we currently have 2 wingers in the whole squad including Aidy White. If you really think Varney will replace Snoddy's goals you're delusional. You're final statement is meaningless because: 1. If you want to get promoted you need not just 1 or 2, but 3 or 4 star players, we currently have none. 2. We have no players who can create anything. But don't worry, we'll sell McCormack and buy Nicky Maynard and Craig Mackail-Smith to play **** knows what role in the team and bang on about what brilliant "marquee signings" they are. It's a car crash that's obvious to see from a mile off, but because it's Neil Warnock and he's talking about promotion we're clearly going to storm the league.
Think we should put trust in Warnock, obviously, its not about the best individual x1 players, but the best team. He has done it, time and time again. Lets get behind Warnock until he gives us reason not to
IMO he's already given me reason not to. I'm seeing an average team being built with no chance of promotion. Warnock being manager doesn't magically turn them into world beaters.
Simon there are times when you post sensible stuff, but on this subject you're a fooking numpty. Why the fook can't you just keep your powder dry until you see the finished product. Probably because you know more about winning promotion than our manager. Were you banging on last season about the lack of inmvestment and garbage defensive tactics by our owner and manager. If your not more exited this summer than last, then you must be brain dead. This is the first summer for years than I'm slightly exited about the coming season and I'm sure that how most of us feel.
