Elland, a minimum of 6th has to not even be Warnock's starter for 10. Given the age & experience of the plyers he's getting, he must be looking at a 1 to 1.5 season team with some re-building next season as we aim to be 17th or better in the PL.
I would like us to sign Templeton, McGugan or shelvey on loan and a striker that can play the lone role. Bring in a RB whether that be Crainie or Peltier im not that bothered. I'd still like us to sign another winger after all that though, but if we were to sign Templeton and McGugan that'd get me right up there in optimism levels
And we'd still be a way off promotion. (Also we have a striker who can play the lone role, he's called Luciano Becchio, you might remember in his only full season in the Championship he scored 20 goals and set up a fair few as well)
Becchio can't play the lone striker role all season long, he'll need a break now and again - he looks knackered at the best of times. We need a viable alternative in case he gets injured or for when he's rested, otherwise it means we can't play the lone striker formation. I heard Colin was in for Jon Stead - not great but an improvement on Paynter.
THE MILLWALL EXPRESS IS going to steam roll and surprise an awful lot of people this season,,,, but keep it quiet
I'll take that Not wumming but without 3 or 4 top signings I can only see you guys struggling, If warnock does walk by xmas you're in serious trouble because despite your history etc you'd be an unattractive team for any decent manager to take on. Unless the takeover happens and there's a big kitty in which case warnock would probably stay, all the best anyway, unlike most city fans I don't bear much hatred for Leeds (except when our game rolls round like any other yorkshire derby)
I don't carry hatred for Hull either, I can't stand your manager and hand on heart that has nothing to do with who he used to play for but I have to give him credit for the signings he has brought in so far. For anyone believing Leeds can finish higher than mid table can I ask on what basis? Let's assume the strong rumours are true, we lose McCormack - We will have lost our three best players, McCormack, Snoddy and Clayton, we never replaced Howson and if you remember the position in the league when Grayson was sacked to our finishing position, it has to be said that had the season started in January we might have been relegated. So look at who we have brought in and the rumoured ones to follow, apart from Kenny straight swap for Lonergan and Austin who we *HOPE* lives up to expectation as we await a work permit we have brought in half of the Portsmouth team who actually finished BEHIND us. Then there is a 34 year old Gray and a rumoured Maynard. If Cranie was that good would he have not been offered a contract when Gray received one. The fact that Warnock needs a longer look proves he is either not first choice or he is not up to the task.
Warnock's the only reason you might do well, top manager at this level. If you get Maynard that's a great signing but won't come cheap as his west ham contract will be big. As an outsider looking in, Leeds' transfer dealings will be interesting to watch in the near future. Talk about complete overhaul of a squad! I'd still have trust in Warnock that he knows what he's doing, but until Bates goes (if he goes) i'd be shocked/impressed to see you in the prem. Having said that I'm happy that I'll probably win my annual bet with my mate (£10 plus £1 a point between us and Leeds)
How do Doom Mongerers. Jesus, hate to go to the match with your pessimism inside me. CHAMPIONS!! AND players playing with a smile like this Lets think positively and that might (just might) get into the players brains, as our Colin wants us to. Give em a chance and start singing fro the roof tops. HURRAH AGAIN!
Leaky - You're far too cheerful so must be on the wrong board mate - here you go - a happy place http://www.not606.com/forumdisplay.php/46-Millwall
Rhodes: Fulham seem to have realised they can't match the fee required to speak with Rhodes, as have West Ham. Reading speculation has also died down, and with the news that Dean Hoyle has reportedly offered Rhodes an improved deal we could see the Scotland International remain at Town for the coming season. This could well be the biggest signing that Town make this summer. Rhodes will have seen the investment that has come into Town this summer and he probably will be better off here rather than in a team struggling at the bottom end of the Premier League.
