Never been discussed on our board,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Well not much [ sic ] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ With the news that West Ham could be on the verge of signing ex Man United defender Kieran Richardson does this improve on our current first team squad? Lets look at our left back from last season, George âRingoâ âLindaâ McCartney. The two time Hammer looked solid all season in the Championship, much like the form which persuaded Sunderland to shell out over 5 million for the Irish defender. It is highly likely that McCartney will be joining the Irons permanently but I personally have my reservations that he can replicate that form in the Premier League and provide us with the overlap that will be crucial in the top league. http://foreverwestham.com/2012/05/blog-topics/no-better-than-what-we-have McCartney offers very little going forward and his pace can sometimes be hit and miss. The need for attacking flare would suit a player of Richardsonâs calibre after all he was purely a winger in his Man Utd days. My only worry with Richardson is whether his career is now in decline and he fancies playing out his days where older players go to die i.e. Upton Park. Do we really want another freeloader on high wages who doesnât really have the ambition to succeed at the top level. Personally I would prefer a young and hungry left back with the ambition to take us up to the European places. Richardson strikes me as a player without that drive for the top. So if not him then who? Royston Drenthe is one for consideration in my books he proved lethal for Everton when on form and settled in nicely after he adapted to the Premier League game. Looking for experience? Just want to be heard outside of the Boleyn? We are currently looking for writers, drop us an email at [email protected] for more details Fabio of Manchester United is another who could be available on loan next term, pace in abundance and ambition to make it at Man U could be exactly what the Hammers are looking for. So for me itâs a thumbs down for Kieran Richardson. Look elsewhere Big Sam. Is Richardson an improvement? Is Ringo good enough for them Prem?
