Isn't that why people think Scott Parker is the best player England have?

But why does needing CB's stop us from looking at other players too?. I'm sure Adkins is bright enough to see we need at least one CB. But if he feels we need a few more players in different positions then so be it.

That and because he's not afraid of lunging himself in front of the ball. So over-rated it hurts.

Yeah I suppose. You won't find many technically talented English midfielders. Looks like we may have one in JWP though.

Scott Parker is England's bravest! That's why we love him. :bandit:

Time was, was when Scott Parker was quite the creative attacking midfielder, in his Charlton Athletic days. Over the years he seems to have been moulded, more and more, into the formulaic England player. Lots of hustle and bustle which ultimately amounts to sod all.

I remember he scored two crackers against us in 03/04, right in front of Sven as well.

Then he went to Chelsea. :(

You can keep your Scott Parker he plays so deep you wouldn't think a centre back could pass a football.
Good sitting midfield players play football with the backs and link up play and movement going forward. All he does now is come and take it of there shoe lace a play a ball they are more than capable of.
When he mixed his game with foraging passages of play he looked goods d contributed a lot more.
Maybe he is the centre back we are looking for.

    Celtic again?

I hope those pricks don't come over here again. It was quite tiresome.

On the other hand, now I've banned myself from the Pompey board, I need someone to insult.

Can poeple please stop calling James Ward-Prowse JWP. It makes me think we've signed another of Ian Wright's sons...

If you are writing on your computer then you are seriously decreasing its value...

I openly admit i had a childish argument / slanging match on their board this afternoon (i'm not proud of it much but it was hot and i was bored) They value this Kayal fella at 10m plus ! he cant be that great surely ? However any player of theirs linked with the PL seems to come with a hefty price tag whether it's deserved or not.

I can't see this happening espescially for that sort of wedge.

Yes. There are very valid comparisons to make, just because they're not the same ability doesn't mean they aren't comparable.

Your assertion that Parker is considered a good player because he runs around a lot may be somewhat true, but people who think that aren't watching very hard. Parker is one of the best central midfielders to have played for England recently, because he works hard and he is technically very good. Chaplow works hard. Besides that there's really no comparison.

Beg to differ. Barry is a much more technically gifted footballer then Scott Parker, however because Barry doesn't run around like a headless chicken people don't realise. I counted Parker get caught on the ball 4 times in the first half V Italy.

If you look back at all the opposition shots from outside the box in the euros, Parker was usually the player making the desperate lunge to try and block the shot. Purely because he had Sat so deep without reading the game.
He does endless amounts of needless running.
