As I said on a thread last week Brendan is clearly not familiar with the phrase "the horse has bolted". Showed their hand way too early.

indeed WP. A gifted young manager but Fergie or Wenger would have kept their cards much closer to their chest.

think he is a class manager but he's shown his naivety in this instance. No chance there valuation of Carroll will be met now!

Aye he is young in management terms and it showed here. To be honest its bit of a man sized clanger given the fees you are talking about. I'd say he'd have got a good bollocking but these american owoners seem nuts and probably didn't bat an eyelid.

When you add THAT.. to THIS it starts to seem more likely that negotiations are ongoing....

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/18981850

"It's a lot of money for Mike [Ashley, Newcastle owner], although we'll obviously be getting a big upside in terms of what we sold him for and we've got three great strikers here already."

"I think it was obvious that as soon as Brendan went into Liverpool that Andy's time was going to have to be somewhere else," said Pardew.

"Whether it's £15m, £16m or £20m, if [Rodgers] uses that money and gets an uplift in the player that he brings in that's OK," he added.
"And that's how you've got to look at it."

Mind you these mind games can work both ways, we seem to be going out of our way to piss every club off that we are dealing with this summer. If its not paltry offers for players I.e Douglas and Debuchy... its talking publicly like this one about how they "must accept a loss"

Seems a bit disrespectful in a way and might give us a bad reputation when negotiating with clubs.

I'd rather that reputation than our previous one! We were the laughing stock of the transfer market. If you wanted to slide your "get more money dong" up anywhere, the first thought was "ring Newcastle". Now people think "oh ****, this isn't going to be easy". When running a business that's what you want them thinking as you sit down at the table.

Yeah I see what you mean but having a reputation of tough negotiators means nothing if nobody wants to do business with you at all.

We were absolutely slating Arry' when he was talking about Demba Ba. Now Pard's is doing the exact same thing.

yeh but Harry was spilling secrets about Ba's contract. Whereas Pardew is saying what everyone is thinking, no Liverpool fan thinks there going to make a profit on Carroll. So i really don't think Pardew has done much wrong. He has simply said what everyone knows!

I was a bit surprised to see so much being said by Pards. I'm not the type of person who gets easily offended when things disrespectful things are said towards football club I support so I'm not going to say Pardew is a disgrace and what not. I think I'd be more disappointed if it was my manager talking like this personally.

The whole Carroll situation is a strange one...a lot is being said about BR not wanting him when he hasn't been quoted saying such things. he has said that we will listen to any offers, but that applies to any player really. However, our owners don't seem to "back' Carroll judging by some of the things they say. I think it could be them more than Rodgers in regards to the Carroll situation.

I thought exactly the same thing. Very surprised and disappointed I might add, to see Pards talking about this in so much detail. Comes across as an attempt to unsettle Carroll, or at least that's the way Liverpool will see it, and rightly so, cos if it were the other way round we'd be thinking the same thing.

If it was a choice between paying £20m for Andy Carroll, or £15m for Loic Remy I'm not entirely sure what I would rather do !

You know what you're gonna get with Carroll which is the upside to any deal of course...whether that's worth paying £5m more for a player though is another story !

You would pay the £15m for Remy and thank god you made the right decision. Why on earth do people think Carroll is worth £20m??? Forget that he went for £35m for a moment, if a player had a season like he did last year and we were rumoured to be bidding £20m for him I'm fairly sure most fans would hit the roof! Can't help but feel because he is a local lad a lot of people's judgement is clouded on this one. Remy fits our style better and is cheaper. Absolute no brainer for me!

No doubt its a bit below the belt by Pards. We'll put it down to being a London thing!

It has everything to do with the assumption that Brendan Rodgers will attempt to emulate his style of play which he used at Swansea, with Liverpool. Andy Carroll sticks out like a sore thumb in that system, as do players like Spearing and Downing who don't have an ounce of vision in their play. On the other hand, the racist rat could blossom into one of the best strikers around under this system if it works and I think that's the plan.

So with that in mind, unless Rogers is planning on trying something new (which he's not, because he's signing Mr Sideways Allen) then Carroll has no hope in that side, because technically it would be the equivalent of writing an Oscar-worthy film script then handing the lead role to Joey Essex.

Two things diminish (though do not wholly negate) Pards culpability in this one. The first is that Brendan Rodgers publicly stated Carroll was goig to have to prove himself, and was quoted (whether correctly or not) from here to kingdom come as saying he was considering loaning him out. The second is whoever (DL ?) who made our bid so public so early.

Since those two things have occured, so much **** has been thrown around that Pards two bits can't do much in the way of additional damage. Still would prefer not to hear it from him, though

Agree with this, Pards is just commenting on whats being said before, Liverpool wont sell him for anything like what they bought him for.
