I know SSN aren't the fountain of all knowledge, but when they report something, there's usually quite a bit of truth behind it, and I believe them a lot more than other sources.

Loic Remy would be a great signing, but losing Ba would take a lot of the feeling out of moment for me.

Kazan hope to trigger Ba's release clause and offer him 95k a week.

Would Ba turn down almost double his wages to stay? I don't think many players would.

I would be gutted to lose Ba like...But i would be even more gutted if we payed 15 million for Remy, I hope them days are gone of paying that type of money for a player...I believe for that money we could get 2 quality players and that would benefit our small squad a lot more

Must admit Remy looks perfect for our style. He'd also be suited to playing LW and he can also play in a 4-4-2.

i'd quite happily shell that amount out on Remy. Especially if you look at what we're reportedly being quoted for Carroll. Remy would fit our style perfectly playing opposite Ben Arfa on the other wing with Cisse up top. There won't be many better attacking threats in the league than them 3. Would love this to happen. Like you said though, I'd be really disappointed to lose Ba, think he is quality. Plus he seems like a great guy. Think it would probably improve our 1st team a bit if Remy took his place still.

Wonder how many passionate frenchman we can have in the side before we have a France 2010 style meltdown :undecided:

Id be gutted if Ba went but I'd rather he went abroad than another prem club, I'd be bitter if he went to spurs or bin dippers.
I wouldn't hold it against Demba having a last big pay out, with his 'ticking time bomb' knee who knows how long he will play at the top level for.

Cant say I know much about Remy, but then I didn't know much about Cisse either. In Carr we trust!!!

    It's interesting.

I think that it would take a fair bit more to tempt Ba to Russia than it would to, say, spurs or inter milan. I could see him turning it down.

Assuming that Ba's sale is a necessary element of a deal for Remy, do we want Ba to stay or go ?

    Torn on this one.

What's the point? One in, one out... We'd still need another striker, on top of our major concerns of full-back and centre-back...

Get the feeling Remy would be more comfortable with the style we play. His goalscoring record is excellent. As good as Demba is, he's not getting in the side ahead of Cisse and won't be happy playing second fiddle to him. If this deal is dependant on Ba leaving first and is as rumoured to be for £15m, in reality we are really only paying £7.5m for him. Not a bad deal really. Another bonus is we won't be losing our entire strike force every other January due to the ACoN.

Nobody else think the extra 7.5m we're getting from Virgin Money not explain the sudden big money moves for a new striker? Everyone knows we love strikers up here, so investing the extra funds on a new one for big money but reasonable wages makes sense.

One of the funniest things I've read in a while. Cheers Tash. I'd take Remy though and I think Ba like any man would find those sort of figures difficult to knock back. Fortunately its SSN which is about 5% truth

£95k is a lot of money... but would he want to play in one of the most racist leagues in the world?

BA news from a bit nearer home. ( The Ronnie )

DEMBA BA remains a Newcastle United player today – despite reports linking him with Rubin Kazan.

Media outlets from Moscow had indicated that Ba’s £7m release clause had been activated by the Russian Premier League side.

But the Chronicle understands that there has been “no contact” between the Magpies and the Russian outfit.

However, the player still has six days left in which the clause can be triggered – and even then United could still offload him if the right bid came in between now and the end of the transfer window.

Ba has made some positive noises since returning for pre-season with the Magpies, but many fans won’t be fully convinced until September 1 when they will know for sure if the striker is still a United player.

Ba said during the club’s tour of Germany and Austria that the sight of him wearing a black-and-white shirt should be indicate his commitment to the cause.

The striker’s future has caused anxiety for the Toon Army all summer, but after playing in all three of the Magpies’ games so far against Chemnitzer, Monaco – a game in which he scored the winner in Landsberg Am Lech – as well as against Fenerbahce, Ba has looked in good condition.

Ba started Ramadan last week along with his team-mate Papiss Cisse, and it remains to be seen just how much of an effect this will have on the duo.

Last season Ba started life at Newcastle in poor form, before his manager Alan Pardew revealed he’d been following Ramadan – and a glut of goals followed between September and February when his 16 strikes made him top scorer at St James’ Park.

SSN are usually a far more reliable source than most unless it's a slow news day when they post bollocks. However, there's been lots of transfer talk and stories on their today, so even though I'm not going to take it too seriously, I will take notice of it more than most other sources.
