A pensioner’s life is not what I thought it to be,
    ..but I will not despair
I too am affected by the economic crisis.
    PROOF
I have to eat mouldy cheese.

    …and dried meat

I have to drink old wine

…my car has not got a roof

…and my bathtub is in the garden

But I will continue to struggle along and
now I must protect my nose from the sun.

With a bit of courage I will survive this crisis.

She's Italian-American. Starred in "My cousin Vinny" and "The Wrestler". Good lookin' Gal too. Just watched her trace her ancestry back to the Island of Elba.

The place looks like something out of a fantasy Novel. Where abouts are your people from? North or South?

(P.S. Apologies for the ribbing the other day. Wouldn't do it only I know you can take it!)

I've been to Elba a few times many years ago to sell jewellery. Travelled all of Italy except for the far North East (Udine, Gorizia, etc) and Southern Sardinia doing sales. I'm not Italian, I have a grandmother from Galway.

Elba isn't all that. The prison and ex prison islands nearby are more interesting. Spent time on Isola di Capraia in the seventies when it was a prison farm. Pianosa and Gorgona were also prison islands as was the infamous Asinara off Sardinia.

Don't know why I thought you was half Italian! That's an interesting detail of the Islands. I must visit some day.

My mother's from Galway too. Hey, you'd never know, you and I might be cousins! ;)

P.S. When you say you did time on a prison farm, did you mean that you were an inmate?

It was a "holiday", the ferry only came once a week back then as did the ship with drinking water. The ferry used to have a a prison cell at the back for unloading prisoners at the various islands. Gorgona doesn't have a port so they were unloaded into an open boat out to sea and taken to shore with that.

Sullivan was my grandmother's family name. She died before I was born.

Hmmm, I know what you're trying to say. I will probe no further.

Sullivan eh? I don't think we're related after all mate. Ah well, and I was all ready to fly over and pitch up at your Gcaff
