This morning Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf published an interview with Alexander Büttner about all the transfer woes that surrounds him. In the article Büttner said the following about his almost done deal with The Saints: "We were so close, and i would have loved to join them but the clubs didn't come to an agreement. So now i am moving on, right now Hanover 96 and Fulham are showing real interest in me and there are two more clubs from France. The Southampton story lies behind my now, my future is somewhere else."
From what i get is that the club, Vitesse, added new terms whilst a deal was already brokered. Alexander Bursac, the agent, pushed Büttner for a move to Southampton apparently.
His agent admitted he tried changing how much Saints would pay up front. The deal that was agreed had a few add ons apparently, his agent tried changing that. Probably because he would get a bigger bonus?.
Probably because they know about it, and it's not a nasty surprise after a deal has already been agreed.
Shame, good luck to the guy, but please go to France or Germany. It will be quiet frustrating if he goes to Fulham and he turns out to be quality in the PL. Anyway, I wonder what that does now, interesting to see if we go after someone in that position.
I´m sure he will favour a move to the prem before going to France or Germany so I think he´ll end up at Fulham. If he does go there, then only time will tell if we´ve made a good or bad desicion. It would be really annoying he moves to Fulham and does really well but then again he could be another de ridder and be total flop.
I seem to be quoting you all day, today. Yea, I'm actually quite cheesed off we aren't going to get Büttner in now. I shouldn't think it is our fault, but that doesn't change the decision that he won't be coming here, after all.
bit strong? He sounded like a quality player, shame but our chairman's strong handed approach has worked wonderfully so far so certainly not up in arms!
I think this is good news, as we are saying to the market that last minute major tweaks and changes to contracts are more likely to result in no deal at all. Do it properly or don't bother coming here. I think when Atkins came to the club, he set the tone for the way it should be done (regarding reasonable compensation to S***thorpe). We are just continuing this way of
