He's clearly on top of his game this season. By far the best driver on the grid at present.

I'd go with this. I can't agree with the ****e car bit though, Ferrari have really upped their game too and deserve some credit.

For me he is miles ahead of anyone on the grid. He just does not make mistakes, he is quick in Quali, he is becoming the master of changeable conditions, he knows how to manage a race and he leads the WDC by a large margin which is amazing considering that over the course of the season he has not had the best car

Did Vettel get punished for his move on Button?

Yes he was given a 20 second time penalty which drops him to 5th

He is on top of his game this season, in a **** car.. I am surprised hardly anyone has come up with excuses, which they do when they can't comprehend stuff like this is happening.

He's been at his best this season imo. Had a ****ty car to start of with, made the best of that, now he has a winnable car in his hands he's taking advantage of ALL mistakes. I do believe he'll become one of the best of all time once he retires. If he was in this form in 05/06, he'd be record breaking :cheesy:

As I said before, I think Ferrari deserve some credit too for the car and their team work but that's not to take anything away from Alonso, he's simply superlative now.

The car is now well sorted and Alonso is getting the maximum from it. Is driving really well at the moment and his Valencia victory has to be one of his best IMO.

Alonso is driving great at the moment, and I think he's the class of the field.

I'd say that the Ferrari isn't the best car, but it's no where near as bad as it was at the start of the season.

This "greatest of all time/best of generation" thing can get out of hand, but he's certainly in superlative form at the moment and has been the best driver out there in recent races.

I thought his pole lap at Silverstone in difficult conditions was immense - one of those laps that looks slow, with no dramas or apparent effort until you look at the laptime.....

Ferrari is certainly a competitive car, hard to say which is best, the Red Bull is too slow in a straight line otherwise Vettel would have won, look at the speed trap data.

McLaren is way to inconsistent so far this season to genuinely challenge but that could change.

Still think we need to see how mclaren do in hungary before we put them back in contention. They had the pace in Canada then they lost it in Valencia and Silverstone.

With Alonso leading the championship and Massa nowhere its difficult to judge the pace of the Ferrari. They are very good on their tyres though, Alonso looked like he was playing games with Jenson the way he pulled away at the end by a second per lap.

they say Hungary is monaco without the barriers so I presume those who did well in monaco and Valencia will do so again. Its tough for overtaking so front rows are a must

He is easily the best driver of his generation. Will go down as one of the all time greats when he retires.
