    About Abeid, that is.

I don't have a particularly brilliant history at having brilliant insights before they become common wisdom, but I liked Abeid immediately.

Partly because I beleived it and partly as my own pet theory, I've bee saying that in a couple of seasons he's going to be making cabaye and Tiote work hard to stay in the team. Lasts nights performance made it look like I might, for once have been right.

Good passing, good strength, very cool finish. I expect we'll see him a bit this season. By the time he's 21, he's going to be one of the hottest prospects in the prem.

Still plenty of time for it to turn out that I'm wrong again, but my do I think he looks good.

Also, was that Fener's full strength side ? Didn't think they ever caused us serious problems, and not more than half of our players on the pitch were anywhere near the first 11.

Agree mate if he keeps working hard he'll be a very good player, lot of people see him as a DM but I think he's more comfortable as an AM like last night his technical and dribbling skills outweigh his defensive skills

He is ahead of Gosling for sure, however he's a million miles away from premier league starts.

Agree with Freddd + Judzthegeordie that mehdi looks like he has everything required to become a great player. But as Spaceboy also says, he's not there yet. He'll be great in a couple of years, if he continues his progress. Might be the kind of player we let out on loan to gain valuable experience and develop his game.

It's a dangerous game getting excited about a player on one game. Didn't Luque score (though disallowed) on what must have been just about his debut v man united? Not saying he's gonna flop, and certainly excited to see more of him, but we don't wanna end up with egg on our faces if he just doesn't cut it in the end :p

Valid point mate, but Luque was signed under the impression he was in the prime of his career, Mehdi's only 19 no one's saying he's anywhere near first team standard yet, he's raw but talented and if he continues to work hard there's no reason why he can't fulfill his potential

Fair point. Just have to not get too far ahead of ourselves and expect too much of him in what could be his breakthrough season is what I'm trying to say. If he can keep it up for a few weeks in a row, then we can truly start to believe we have a top notch talent on our books, backed up with consistent performances. I personally expected Vuckic to have a big season last year, but he struggled, for various reasons. We'll just have to wait and see how Medhi develops.

Whatever his destiny is, it'll be better than Luque's.

I think we have strong crop of young players who will be seriously pushing for regular places within the next 2 years.

Some of them could come in now and do a good job. Pards just doesn't want to rush them.

Understand completely mate, we've had a lot of players that we've seen as "potentially good" but have never quite made the grade. And agree on Vuckic, he really has hard luck with long term injuries and they've really seemed to have curtailed his progress

I can see Vuckic falling behind others in the pecking order. Was a really promising pospect, but doesn't seem to have adapted at the same rate as others. As you say, injuries haven't helped him. But think he's going to struggle next season even with more games. Expecting him to be loaned out.

Aye, year or 2 ago would of said he was our most prized asset, youth wise. He's about 6'4 but he seems to get bossed with relative ease by opposition defenders, I know he's more of a technical player, but if ya that big make the most of it along with your ability!
