The result was good, but of what i saw it was typical preseason. A lot of missed passes but credit the last 15 mins we played quite well
Your correct, even Dick Turpin wore a mask whilst robbing people.... Good goal by Noble at the end though...
just caught the last ten minuets what the hell has been happening during the match great goal by Noble for the winner
I think the point is being missed, good pre season game because.. Run out for players to gain match fitness Try new formation, you dont know unless you try 3 goals with 3 strikers scoring, can only be good Chins up boys and girls
Fair point mate but it is a 90 minute game not 85, doesn't matter who is in control of the game it's who wins that matters. I've seen us batter teams for 80 minutes on a regular basis only to let it slip in the last ten (City last season a prime example).
Groningen 2 Sunderland 3 Peace Cup Graeme Anderson reports from the Suwon Stadium. SUNDERLAND snatched victory at the death in their ‘wooden spoon’ game with Eredivisie side Groningen today thanks to late goals from Fraizer Campbell and Ryan Noble. Connor Wickham had given the Wearsiders an 18th minute lead when he took advantage of goalmouth scramble from a corner to tap home at close range. But the Dutch side were stronger than Sunderland for large parts of the game and equalised in the 37th when striker Hyun Jun Suk who acrobatically flicked a ball up with his back to goal and produced an overhead kick. They snatched the lead in the 43rd minute when winger Mitchell Schet cut in from the right-wing and steered a low shot home to give them a lead at the break that they rarely looked like surrending in the second-half. But just when Sunderland seemed to be heading for defeat, Fraizer Campbell converted a Craig Gardner cross from the right inside the six-yard box in the 88th minute. And after substitute Genero Zeefuik had missed a 90th minute open goal for the Dutch, Sunderland substitute Ryan Noble raced onto a long ball and volleyed home a fabulous 25-yarder to give his team a late and, at times, unlikely victory. They might have left it late but Sunderland deserved every credit for continuing to battle all the way to the end in sweltering conditions. .............................................................. more detailed reports 1st half http://www.sunderlandecho.com/sport/sunderland-afc/safc-news/sunderland-trail-at-half-time-1-4764476 2nd half http://www.sunderlandecho.com/sport.../campbell-noble-seal-sunderland-win-1-4764521
Don't see why, you can take the positives or the negatives, its all relative. Injuries will come and we now have three, how bad I don't know but better now than later if we are to have them.
Inc Mig? Thought he was just being rested, but.. SIMON Mignolet was the notable absentee not just from Sunderland’s starting line-up today but from their squad. He was one of three players not included in the squad to face Groningen - presumably because of injury - with David Vaughan and Blair Adams also absent for today’s Peace Cup consolation game. The heat and humidity in the Suwon Stadium was oppressive this afternoon, far greater than it had been on Thursday evening. But the few dozen Sunderland fans in the ground were not fazed by the conditions, punching well above their way thanks to a megaphone and going through numerous chants, including ‘One Barry Siddall’.
