Having been a supporter of Rangers since 1947/8 and most of you think I am OAP, maybe you are all right but I have seen the best and the worst of our beloved team I now say that I think Rangers will finish in the top six! You may think I do not know what I am talking about but looking at the team that MH has put together, yes they may seem OAP but I was playing football till I was 47 over hers in Portugal ageist 20/25 year olds but I had brains, did not need to run about to much but used it! I think he has put a good, no a very good team up for us and the club. Yes. all the other top teams have youth on their side but!!!!! And if we do we will attract more and more better players to us next year. Remember in our hay days we Had Rodney and then Stan the man also if we go back a little we also had Bedford. That was before we won the League cup in 66/7 and what a great team that was! So there you are, think about it chaps! Keep the Faith! James PS . I was also at Wembley 66/7 so do not try to put me down as I have forgotten what most of you know or think you know!!!! Good night as I am of to have a glass of champs as it has gone 10o/c!
You said last season that we had to spend at least 100 Million quid just to stay up. Now you're saying, having spent a fraction of that, that we're headed for Europe!!! Are you completely off your rocker? Have you mixed up your pills or somefink?
It is very easy to find oneself sharing your optimism, James. But we're all aware that we follow a team quite capable of snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. Trying not to be unduly negative, but realistic for a moment, we've clearly got a better side than the one that closed off last season. However, I'd be surprised if it is Top Six quality just yet. Let's be generous and suggest that Green is worth a further 10 points a season more than Kenny. That would put us at 47 points; at best 10th place if 2011/12 is anything to go by. The additions of Park, Johnson, Fabio and Nelsen are also good news, as is the return of Faurlin... but is all this worth another 10 points? Maybe another 5? Perhaps a better disciplinary record is worth another 5 points? Also, the team has got to stay injury-free and we should not forget that other teams are not exactly sitting around idly, but are also strengthening. A Top Six requires 27 more points than were amassed last time out, and I don't think the changes equate to that. Obviously delighted to be proven wrong. I'd settle for Top Half right now.
i just dont think we have the fire power to get us there just yet. i dont think the plan is to be any were near europe just yet. just to be as far away from the bottom three and as quickly as possable
Yes you are right Swords , but I said that when NW was our leader! And lets face it we just staid up due to Blackburn blowing it after being goals up away! ?? And still think we will have to buy very good players costing up to £100,000,000 this and next season. Do you think Arsenal, Chelsea Man. Un & Man. city spend any less, just see what they are paying one player now to stay up at the top .Anything from £20,000,000 to £40,000,000 per.player? So I am not that far wrong am I?? Think about it????????? Anyway if I am wrong, I will come back and eat humble pie as last time!
We have to be realistic, the top six teams might spend 30 million on a single player We would not spend that on all our signings combined
admire the optimism James...dont necc agree... Anywhere near 10th would make me very happy TBH I called it exactly right last season with 17th..I'm going for 12th this season with a plan to kick on further next season!
If this experienced team gels then why not? It will rely on the hunger ... Experienced players around the most creative player in the division why not dream? I am no betting man but i will be putting on another dream bet just in case. Apart from Man Utd last season we put in excellent performances against the top six taking 10 points from a possible 36 for a promoted side in turmoil that was not bad as we also nicked 7 points from 12 from 7th and 8th places Everton and Liverpool. an improvement on last season could see us right up there. we owe both the Manchesters at home this year
Yeah...Liverpool spent £35m on Carroll and look what he did for them...F'all! Newcastle then spent that money on Ba and Cisse, with plenty of change left over and they scored more goals in 1 season the Carrroll will in the rest of his carreer and finished above them.
If team gels, then no reason why a finish between 12th and 8th. Injuries, suspensions you cannot predict but a settled back 4 would help, as would making Loftus Rd a 12th man. MH has bought wisely - lets just look forward to a good seasn and maybe a cup run. MH's team's have always improved season after season.....
Don't start this again. There's nothing worse than someone who doesn't learn from their mistakes. You were a massive NINE places too high with your prediction last season. I would have thought that surely you'd have learned your lesson?
Those massive nine places were also decided over the massive last three games of the season I would of thought you may have learnt a bit from me by now
