I can't be arsed to look for it, but you clearly stated that you don't believe in much. You're just a ****-stirring wum and I'm through with it!!
Great post and completely on the money. Only thing I can add is that he's the most immature 23(?) year old I've seen. Not necessarily in a horrible way but he has lost focus, listened to the hype too much and had his head turned by the wrong people. I feel that he's now listening to the likes of Hughes and Fernandes and that can only be a good thing.
Not present tense Matt........PAST tense!! Your last sentence is bang on!! He looks totally focused now and settled. Let's all see what he does next season!
Agreed. He has to sort his head out and he has this Summer to finally change from boy to man. Its now or never.
Still not sure if Taarabt will ever work hard enough to play in a 4-4-2 at premiership level but if we can play one up front and have Taarabt in a free role behind he will always cause problems for any defence
Agree and I will add that any Taarabt doubters should get behind our team and worship possibly the best player has had ever . The man has committed which shut the Taarabt doubters up ... So where's all the wasted words about him being off now? This is his club and I wish a few would respect that . In fact under Mark Hughes Adel Taarabt has been fantastic so with a new contract in place why shouldnt we all think there is more genius to come You should all be proud and fateful we have him and IMO he is already a premiership star
hahahahaha....what are you lot on.. Seiouisly, I compared Tarbs to Beckham, and Giggs because they are top players and have been for a decade. If Tarbs is the best in the division (stupid statement) then we have top compare apples with apples... Matt..(re: the double nutmeg thing) are you seriously telling me you have never seen ryan giggs totally outstrip the best teams/players/defenders (delete as app.) in the premiership and score a better goal than any or Tarbs?...really remember Giggs v Arsenal, Liverpool..and sadly QPR in that 99 min match..The player has been the bst on the planet for a decade..Tarbs for all his wishing is a mile away. Never seen beckham put a ball on someones head from 50 yard away..ala Dwite York, Van Nistelroy....etc.... You get the point. I do love watching our magician when he is good and he was amazing against lesser opposition. I'd love to see him do it against the big boys, like he did against Arsenal last season.... He"s GOOD and He's OURS!!! Lets hope he can step up this season and do it all the time. I trust Sparky and he wil know if he's good enough. For me, not playing him against Man City said a hell of a lot His worshipers can believe what they wish. you guys are entitled to as you pay your money and go to the games. Personally, i dont believe the hype yet, didnt see it in any games i went to last season (3) and totally understand they off the ball stuff etc.... To compare him to Zizu, Giggs, or any of the other confirmed, "paid up and delivered" regular performers of the Premiership is just ridiculous DT...Sorry mate, i normally agree with everything you post, but you are so wrong on this one its unbelievable!!
I think we're all pretty clear on who thinks what about Taarabt and guess what? It's all true one way or another. Two sides of a dialectic. Different conclusions. This has to be his season surely.
I really hope so Brix..for all our sakes...I really would love to say 'I am wrong"..if only to see how much stick i get and make others happy!!! Your up late mate......give up the drugs !!! It'll all end in tears !!
I always remember Harry Rednapp played him once in midfield with Modric and Modric said after the game that he had never had to work so hard before
Incredible how we can all look at the same person and have such divided opinions. When you break down the simple undisputeable facts, you are all actually disagreeing about very little. Facts 1. Tarbs was initially loaned out by Spuds to give him first team football, so Arry could see would he make the grade. 2. Tarbs was unbelievable for us in our Champ winning season. While others (Kenny, Hill, Derry, Mackie etc) provided the backbone to our team, Tarbs was the touch of genius that sparked us into life. To say he won the Champ for us single-handily is naive and disrespectfully to the other. But what is definite, is that he was deffo the single most effective player for us that season. Enough said. I presume we all agree to this. 3. Many of us had concerns before last season started, that although Tarbs has fantastic skill, would he make it in the Prem considering his sometimes "dodgy' work-rate and attitude. Think we can agree that the young lad had an attitude. 4. Tarbs had an awful first half to the season. There are many reasons for this. Head being turned by PSG, poor relationship with Barton. His questionable attitude. etc etc. Now depending on what side of the fence you sit on here, it is very easy to highlight any of the above as being the main factor, simple answer is that it was a combination of all of the above. 5. By Christmas, many of us would have accepted any reasonable bid for Trabs, as he had proved that he was nothing special and in actual fact was a liability to the team. 6. Tarbs went away to the ACON, disillusioned and in poor form. Think we can all pretty much agree to this point. 7. Adel came back from the ACON and he and MH obviously had a "chat". For the second half of the season, we saw a new Adel. He visibly lost weight. He started to track back. He ran and ran and ran for the team. He actually started to tackle. For me, for the first time last season, he earned his place in the starting team. I think we can all pretty much agree up to this point. My opinion. Adel had a great second half to the season. But let’s be honest, MH likes a hard-working team and there is no doubt in MY mind that we did not see Adels true talents/ability as the shackles were deffo put on him and most of the team. Adel has talent. Lots of it. I dont really think we have seen half of what he is capable of yet. To describe him as world class or the most gifted player in the Prem is a touch naive. He is neither at the moment. BUT, there is also no doubt in my mind that he has the potential to go on and be a top top player. He has the ability, but one half of a season can't define him as a legend yet. Rollers OP is as always, on the money. His time has come. If he reached his potential in the coming years then we will have a star on our hands and his price-tag could be astronomical. On the other hand, how he manages the petulance / attitude / laziness will define his career. IMO, he has proven that he has unbelievable potential; he has the potential to be one of the greatest our club has ever seen. At the moment he is deffo at a crossroads, which road he takes is now his decision. Footnote. If you put your bias aside (both sides of this argument) and asked a fan from the other 19 Prem clubs to pick their best 10 Prem players, I would be very very surprised if any of them named Adel in their best ten. Many of them might not even know who he is. He is not in the same class as a Giggs, Beckham etc etc. But, he has the potential. No doubt about this. I really hope that he continues his form into this season. We are lucky to have him, he only cost us 1 million. His contribution to our success winning the Champ means that in real terms he owes us nothing. That has to be remembered. I look forward to seeing him name on the team sheet this season. If he continues to improve and work hard the sky is the limit. If not, he will become just another player who wasted his talent and slowly disappeared. Fingers crossed.
Summed it up nicely NUTS, the only point I'd disagree with is No.2, I do think if you took his contribution away from the Championship-winning team we'd not have won it and would have been in the play-offs at best. I've never been one of his main cheerleaders as I feel he can be as much of a liability as a match-winner at the highest level. He could shine in the Championship because his talent was clearly above that level and, subsequently, his confidence was on a high and THAT, I think, is the key to ALL that he does. If MH can find a role for Adel that will boost his confidence we might just see the 'genius' blossom...
