I think this would be a last minute deal, can't imagine the Russian club being too happy to sell him after the millions they only recently paid - so is imagine they'd be awkward customers.
i am sure he would have put a get out clause in his contract. dont think he really wanted to go russia and they would have know that.
The Russian season kicks off this weekend so it will be interesting to see whether he is in the Anzhi side...
i don't think this will be straight forward because im sure you can not play for 3 clubs in the same year or is it a season. But bloody hope it's true can you imagine the two samba's together "WOW" is all i can say.
Yeah wasn't sure that is good for us then. Really would love to see samba in a R's shirt and he gets a fair few goals as well...
Sport Football European club football Chris Samba to stay with Anzhi Makhachkala despite racist taunts ⢠Former Blackburn defender taunted by fans in Russia ⢠'I will never let the small community of racists break me' Share 8 Email Associated Press guardian.co.uk, Monday 9 April 2012 13.30 BST LIBRARY IMAGE OF CHRIS SAMBA Chris Samba left Blackburn Rovers to join the Dagestani club Anzhi Makhachkala. Photograph: Michael Mayhew/Sportsphoto Ltd/Allstar Chris Samba insists he remains committed to the Russian club Anzhi Makhachkala despite his anger at being the target of racism in the country that will host the 2018 World Cup. A banana was thrown at the Congolese defender after a match at Lokomotiv Moscow last month, the third such incident against an Anzhi player in the past year. "I feel extremely passionately about racism in football and will never let the small community of racists break me," Samba said. "I'm a strong character and will keep fighting for my team." Samba left Blackburn Rovers in February to join Guus Hiddink's Anzhi for a reported £12m. "I am thoroughly enjoying my time in Russia and although I was of course angry at the racism incident, along with the rest of the football world, racist issues here are no different to what I have experienced in other countries," Samba said. But the incident prompted World Cup organisers to pledge to step up action to curb racism in Russian football. Racism has become entrenched in some of the country's fan clubs, which often include ultranationalists and neo-Nazis. Samba's Anzhi team-mate Roberto Carlos, the former Brazil and Real Madrid defender, had bananas thrown at him twice last year. In 2010, Lokomotiv fans unfurled a banner showing a banana in a display directed at the Nigerian striker Peter Odemwingie, who went on to join West Bromwich Albion. Anzhi is owned by Suleiman Kerimov, a billionaire from Dagestan, the Caspian province in southern Russia where the club is based. I really cant see this happening if im honest.
I dont think we will get him but what a signing it would be We really could challenge for a European place with that strength in depth
It is a season, and this time I can remember what the loophole was for moving between summer and winter season running countries: Let's say Taarabt plays the first game for you, and then goes and joins PSG before the end of August. When it gets to January he wouldn't be allowed to sign for Marseille because they run a July to June season and he'd already have played for you and PSG in the 2012/13 season. He would though be able to go and join a team in say Brazil, even though it would mean 3 teams in the space of 5 months or so, because the season runs from January to December, he would only have been playing for PSG so far in their 2013 season. NB: Remember, emergency loans don't count as one of your clubs, but half or full season loans do, and for a club to count you have to play a first team game. So Fabio, if he has a recall clause in the loan could be loaned out to someone else for the second half of the season despite being a Man U and QPR player in the first half of the season. If he got recalled and played a game for them he could only play for you or Man U though.
Interesting read Ricardo, cheers! Still don't really think we'd get Samba, but if somehow we did it would be incredible!
North, how can you say he was out of order for wanting to join QPR? Silly boy. But it would be nice to see players honor their contracts that they agree to, alas nowadays players hold all the power and money talks. But I don't really care about all that when it's a quality player who wants to join. If we were to sign Samba, I would box and gift wrap my girlfriend and send her with legs akimbo to Tony F or Amit, to do with as they so wish.
Surprised no one's (to my knowledge) made anything of the way our repeated January overtures to Samba effectively broke up Blackburn's back four...
