It was a racing incident. End of. If Alonso had managed to end Hamilton's race without damaging his own car then a penalty should be handed out to even the scales slightly. But Hamilton was unaffected whilst Alonso had to settle for 6th when he was guaranteed a podium.
Who was going to deny him? Even if Hamilton miraculously managed to continue delaying the inevitable he had to pit again anyway.
Should be interesting to see if RB can get KERS on the car, they've been quite coy about the whole thing for all the races now
BLS, Well they had better get it sorted soon, there are a couple of likely lads peering up the RB exhaust pipes, otherwise it could be RB doing the peering and from some distance.
fp1 finished and the Red Bulls still lead the way with Vettel 1st and Webber 2nd. Hamilton was third and Button got 4th. Will be back soon for FP2. please log in to view this image
No not really... Red Bull were 1 and 2 and McLaren and Ferrari were testing out new parts. Heifeld had a crash and Maldonado had a spin, but apart from that a normal practice session. It will be interesting to see the teams put on the option tyres later in the session.
They are doing race runs now hence the laptimes in the 1:40s Hamilton on Primes 1:45s Button on Options 1:44s Vettel on Options 1:44s 1 min remaining
So sebastian Vettel will be the quickest out there in the afternoon as well as the morning. Off to get ready for work...I will be back to see what the Other Not606ers have to say about the action please log in to view this image please log in to view this image
What can we deduce from that... Red Bull have a dodgy KERS but are still fastest, they also seem to have the lowest tyre wear of the front runners. McLaren seem ok, though Buttons KERS overheated a little, seem to have some tyre issues too, especially Hamilton. Ferarri seem again to have some race pace, but no one lap pace. Alonso got in a mood with a slow HRT, though I think that was because the HRT was in the way and not just general frustration. Renault were busy fixing Heidfeld's car for most of both practices (over exaggeration) but the pace seems to be there. Need to do more setup work though. Sutil seems to be up there, as do the Mercedes. The rest? Same as usual really.
