    Theodore Walcott?

You are mistaken, I have never called him awful/terrible. All I have said about him is that he is easily replaceable should we lose him, same goes for Alex Song, because i have mentioned him before as well.

    1. Name me 7 goals Gibbs has cost us this seaso.
    2. His form improved massively during the 2nd half of the season.
    3. Can't pass or cross? Gervihno should have had double. His assets if players would make runs to the box because some of the balls he's played in have been wonderful. He's admitted he will workon his finishing. Ru s like a headless chicken? <doh> Which is why he constantly beats the FB rigth?
    4. He's a good CB. A bit attacking but good. Again have you seen him play as a LB this season. He was cack at that position.

No he's not. Nor is he better than Zlatan. He didn't exactly have the best year last year and that's the only one you can really judge him on being as it's his only one in an Arsenal shirt. Great dribbler of the ball, but has real consistency issues and his finishing is pretty poor- he can sometimes seem a bit like a headless chicken.

I don't understand why people are attacking this guy, he does seem to make some fair points. Gibbs and Santos are prone to being caught out of position- even in the preseason game Gibbs was caught out a fair few times, while Santos is clearly a much more attacking player that really needs work on his defensive game. Vermaelen criticism is slightly harsh, but he can be too attacking and when he isn't at his best, he can play terribly (against AC Milan for example). People do need to stop overrating our players and accept that they do have downfalls and some players aren't nearly as great as people make them out to be- this Gervinho case being a prime example.

The only point I would make is that every LB we have had seems to be "Caught out of position". I suspect that getting our LB forward is a tactic we use and a risk we are prepared to take tactically (like a lot of teams). The real measure is whether that "Being caught out of position" results in a goal/chance and whether the plan is that one of the CBs or midfielders cover across.

I think our defensive system was quite complicated last year and as a unit, there is no doubt that at times we lost our shape defensively, but that shouldn't reflect on individual ability. If someone else was supposed to cover behind them, when they get forward and they didn't, then that isn't "Being out of position".

I am just saying that when every LB we get starts having the same thing happen, perhaps it isn't their fault.

There is a difference between admitting they have faults and calling them awful players or that they aren't good enough for the club.

I don't mind when people back up their arguments. It's the posts like "<insert player name> is awful" that are a waste of space.

Hardly debating- seems more like having a go at someone for having a different opinion, which the guy then goes on to explain and like I said, he raises a few decent points that you can't exactly just rubbish. But don't let that stop you attempt to patronise and discredit me as well :).

This is a pretty good point. I think the system could even be to blame a bit for Verm's wanderings too. Although Santos especially can still get himself into real trouble at the back and they both need to get back a lot quicker. But I do think the defensive system is a bit faulty and maybe it is a way of exaggerating a couple of flaws in Santos and Gibbs' games.

Hey I'm relatively new but I've heard a lot about you though I used to hear about your views In the old 606. Back to the question...on another thread Zlatan had some views which some people reckoned were reminiscent of yours going as far as to suggest that he was you in disguise.

With regard to the thread I feel gervinho will come good this year. Remember nasri was average In his first year. I also heard gervinho scored more goals than nasri in his first year and in less games. He has great dribbling ability something most of our players lack while he can get into good position with great movement. The only thing I think he lacks is clinical finishing which I think stems from a lack of confidence. Now accustomed to the pl I think he should flourish. The only thing in question is whether he will get enough playing time as we now have considerable depth in this, position.

Vermaelen too. ...but he loves Koscielney.

I think he may need mental help.

The post of mine you've quoted was after he called Gervinho awful for no stated reason. It was before he gave his reasons, which I can understand even if I disagree with them. Are you saying I wasn't justified in making that post? Also you have to consider the history of making posts like that. It's getting a bit tiresome just hearing one of our supposed fans come out with 3 word posts saying <insert player> is rubbish. Any other fan coming on this forum and calling one of our players awful without backing it up is shouted off the forum or banned.

I think he's a great player, he just lacked fire in front of goal last season. He has great ball control, movement, decent passing and vision.

He's NOWHERE near Pires's level. Pires was arguably the best winger in EPL history.
    ahhh the memories..

Gervinho's great running with the ball at his feet but for a forward his finishing is woeful. (considerably worse than Walcott's)

Gets into great positions all the time but often overhits his pass/shot.

I think you're the one who needs mental help if you think Vermaelen is better than Koscielny.

    GoonerRVP - spot on dude.

I stopped posting on this board because of this - in fact - quite a few of us have to be honest. They can keep their 2 bob Arsenal Love-in board ! Nothing the Zlatan has said thus far is actually incorrect. If you don't agree with him don't agree with him. Who gives a toss if you find what he says tiresome ?? Others find what YOU say tiresome but they don't try to silence you !! If you don't like what he says look elsewhere or have you lost control of your eyes and limbs ??

Let the man have his say and STFU !

Who's trying to get anyone silenced? I don't see anyone doing that. Also, if you find what I say tiresome, how about you stfu and stop being a hypocrite.
