So the Spuds are stalling on Adebayor because of wage demands so got me thinking, instead of paying gazillions for someone like Cavani why not take a punt on a proven Prem player who would only cost £6m and piss off the spuds into the bargain ?
tel,i thought he was a bit of a water rocker but i saw him interviewed a while back and i was quite surprised, he came across as a very eloquent honest young man. i like him. but you do have a point about him being happy on the bench.
I'd give Lukaku a season long loan tbh, Sturridge was top last season and it wasn't even in his strongest position. Torres and Sturridge rotating strikers and Lukaku on loan
He'd be good but everyone knows he's the guy the phrase 'second season syndrome' was invented for. I don't think its only wages the Spuds are delaying on.
I'd not go with any confidence in Sturridge. He did OK for a while but was unsighted when things got tough. He is payed to play wherever the manager tells him to play, and has absolutely no track record that allows him to decide his best positiion. Lukaku looks potentially light years better to me, and he would be my second choice above Sturridge, unless and until Sturridge grows up. Having said that I hope the two youngsters stop believing their own publicity and knuckle down to the hard work of being excellent squad players for the club. they both have potential, but are nowhere near as good as they need to be to hold their position. improve quickly or watch us buy a proven striker.
Don't agree with you there CP, he was our best player in the 1st half of the season along with Mata, and barely played in the 2nd half due to injury during the latter stages of AVB's tenure. He wasn't played under RDM simply because we set up in a defensive manner and due to Sturridge growing up as a striker, he was never going to track back as well as Ramires. I also don't believe all the red tops when they say he was unhappy about being shifted out right, he never gave any indication in interviews. People forget he was joint top scorer, the only part of his game that needs work is when to pass and to stop being selfish on the ball. He got a lot of unnecessary stick last season.

No thanks!! Wages aside, I'd much rather have Adebayor to Defoe especially as he offers something different to say Torres and Sturridge. I don't think Adebayor is a bad shout so to speak but i'm happy with the 3 forwards we have (4 with Bamford) and all need a lot more game time next year; Adebayor would just be another cook spoiling the broth IMO.
I don't know why we are stalling on the Ade deal, but I hope that AVB/Levy have a plan B and a plan C, or we could be in the same position we were in when we sold Berbatov to United and then let Keane move to 'Pool, leaving us royally screwed up front.
Ade to Spurs seems a no brainer. Even with high wages, at 6 million he is a bargain. Easilly a 15 million pound player.
