This snippet is from the Yorkshire post, wouldn't mind seeing him in a city shirt again, although I prefer Hobbs as a mainstay. This: Huddersfield Town have been linked with a move for Cardiff Cityâs out-of-favour defender Anthony Gerrard. The former Hull City player has been left behind to train in South Wales, with the rest of his team-mates in Switzerland on a pre-season training camp.
And it's gone very quiet on the Michael Keane front, although I know he can play full back too. You'd have thought if there was anything in it we'd have heard more by now as he didn't go on tour by now. As for Gerrard yeah I can't see him coming here and sitting on the bench after Hobbs comes back. I'm surprised Leicester haven't been after him.
With Steve Bruce saying that he hopes to bring in at least 4 more after Faye & Fuller ? its hotting up. Anthony Gerrard would be well suited for Huddersfield Town. AG can live at his Warrington home and commute to HT. With the form of Liam Cooper and the arrival of Faye it would be a waste of money now sadly,, imo. Good Luck to AG though wherever he end up and thanks for the season you gave us here in 2010/11.
Yes. Of the 3 promoted clubs i think they shall start off the best. Glad we dont play them until 15th December and Easter weekend as things stand.
Really tough league, think the 3 promoted teams have the potential to be there or there abouts come May
Its far easier to say who wont be involved in the top 6 race this season. Agree though,, tough league but thats not an issue with the squad we have now and will have come the end of August. imo.
Fell out with Dave Jones and he seems to have fallen out with Malky Mackay now. From what I gather through twitter he seems to be a bit too opinionated and maybe he's a disruptive influence when unhappy? Is that really what we want?
Very true and a typical scouser actually. IMO, i would rather have had Gerrard than Faye from a goal scoring position as AG does score a few goals. In saying that Faye is the better player.
You seem to forget he won player of the season with us. Wasn't much of a disruptive influence then. Indeed his and Chester's partnership lead to our record breaking defensive run in that season that has not been equalled since. I would argue that Dave Jones and Malky Mackay are not the type of managers to get the best out of Ant Gerrard. All that being said and despite the fact I would love to see him back here, I suspect now we have Chester, Faye, Hobbs, Bradley, Cooper and McShane that we simply do not need any more centrebacks.
I'm not forgetting anything, just suggesting that signing him to be a bit part player maybe wouldn't be the best thing to do as that's when he seems to cause trouble.
You didn't mention "Bit part player" in your post. If we were to sign him, I would want him as first choice anyway and probably as Captain as well, but as I said with all the CBs we have we won't be interested.
IF massive IF City were to sell / offload Paul McShane then i could well see Bruce going in for Gerrard especially as he is on a Free. Furthermore, IF Bruce does intend to go with just 3 centre backs then Gerrard - Faye - Chester would look very impressive. In saying that i am not averse to Cooper - Faye - Chester either.
Nick Proschwits deal was £2.58million, and Abdoulaye Faye agrees a 1 year contract, which would rule out the Alex Bruce signing. However, A.Bruce will remain training with us, as he is keeping up his fitness until he finds a new club.
I am calm, I just think people who want to spread malicious rumours around about a player we have already first hand experience about should have their muck-spreading challenged. And, BTW, I don't love Anthony Gerrard any more that the thousands of other season ticket holders who voted him Player of the Season.
Malicious rumours? I think you'll find what I've posted are facts and from those facts I've then suggested an opinion. For what it's worth Gerrard was a very good player for us but in the past 3 seasons he's fallen out with 2 managers and while he's been linked to us (via our own fans) there has been no evidence that we've tried to re-sign him. That's a bit odd considering he won our player of the year award and I was just suggesting by looking at the facts a possible reason for this.
