It feels like the next couple of weeks will be make or break for our dear club.

In a week or two we could have new owners who immediately give Colin the resources to buy in 4 or 5 quality players and sign Snoddy and McCormack up for new contracts. We mount a successful challenge for promotion and use TV money and investment from our owners to construct a squad capable of surviving the Premiership. Over the next few years, helped by regular capacity crowds of 45,000 (following the expansion of Elland Road, paid for by our owners), we are able to afford decent Premiership players and have a thriving youth system. With our Premier League place secure, we flirt with Europe and have success in the FA Cup, winning the 2015 final 2-1 against Man Utd.

Alternatively, the bidding consortium could get fed up with Papa Smurf playing silly buggers and pull out, leaving no money and the inevitable sale of Snodgrass, McCormack, White and Lees. An increasingly doddery Ken Bates sacks Neil Warnock mid-season after a run of 7 games without a win. He is replaced as manager by Gary Megson, with Bates promising a "shiny sixpence" to spend on new players. His team of youth players and free transfers are relegated to Division 1. The following season Ken Bates is swindled into spending all of the team's transfer budget on a dodgy timeshare scheme in Monaco. Leeds fall into administration and are relegated to Division 2. By 2015 they are fighting for promotion from the Blue Square Premiership, in front of crowds as high as 3,000 people. Sadly, Billy Paynter still can't get a goal.

I am praying for the first scenario!!!

Neither scenario is likely. Both are extremes, where the likely outcome is:

    a) the takeover happens, and at the end of the season we just fail to get into the play-offs (a la Leicester)
    b) the takeover does not happen, and at the end of the season we just fail to get into the play-offs (a la Millwall)

    No. Wait.

If it was "a la Millwall", that last statement should read that we had a very very successful season by just staving off relegation <ok>

But the solidity in this squad now, even without Snoddy, McCormack, White or Brown, means we will compete effectively (although not prettily) so I have few concerns about relegation now

make or break? may i suggest break may come at home to the shrews in the league cup. still this will leave you to concentrate on the league against bradford, rotherham and york. quite a conclave of eh up clubs in the league basement.

oh and please ensure your pies are piping hot. i cannot abide lukewarm league 2 pies!

We won't get relegated. Worst case scenario this season is we concede very few but can't score in a brothel. That managed to get Swansea to tenth a few seasons ago.

If Bates continues to be in charge then we could very well go down. Strip away Snodgrass, White, McCormack, Lees (basically our most saleable assets) and our injured players and we have a fairly poor team:

    Kenny

    Connolly O'Brien Pearce Taylor

    Nunez Pugh Brown Rogers

    Becchio Paynter

In order words, a bit gash.

I am still positive that we'll get the first scenario, a new owner who will make sensible investment in the club. But by God I hope it comes soon.

Drury would be LB, Zac Thompson in midfield, Becchio as lone striker. Having said that I believe Connolly's injured so Zac would probably be needed at RB

Missing out Drury and Green and forgetting the fact Lees has just signed a new contract. Also Varney and Austin are looking nailed on, so we could line up:

    Kenny

    Thompson, Lees, Pearce, Drury

    Brown, Austin

    Rogers, Green, Varney

    Becchio

Nothing special but solid and easily good enough to stay in the league, but I wouldn't expect to do too much better than last year.
