So I'm watching the pre season match against Seattle and there's plenty to be excited about in attack. Lukaku was superb in the first half scoring 2 goals but it's the way he finished his chances that impressed me very much like Drogba Esq holding off his man with strength also power and the determination to beat his man. Marin is very fast once he gets to the final third he cuts in on his right foot or he hogs the tough line beating his man with speed he can go either way. Hazard looks quality there is something about him that reminds me of Joe Cole maybe it's his size and stockiness but he is a lot faster than Joe. Hazard has quick feet looks very frightening on the counter running at the defense. In the defensive side of things we look a bit sloppy conceded two goals bad mistakes by us. But it is a makeshift defense playing Hilario in goal, Chalobah and Ferreira as fullbacks. This is what pre season is for though to get our organisation up to scratch. It's been a great match 6 goals in the first half. It's pleasing to see Marin and Hazard score on their debut really excited about those two.
I want Josh to get a lot of game time next year, he is such a quality homegrown talent. Although he gave the ball away for a goal, he did win the ball back for the first goal and put a good ball in for Lukaku to run on to and finish in style. Hazard and Marin, I look forward to being wowed by you both.
Felt like the future last night, Marin, Hazard and Lukaku scoring, Josh with an assist. Exciting times. Can't wait to see our starting 11 when the P.L kicks off.
I've just watched it! Marin Hazard, Lukaku and Josh I know it wasn't world class opposition, but the team moved the ball about nicely! We looked a bit dodgy at the back!
It's never going to be perfect, but even though we were a bit sloppy, it was a youthful side without Mata or Terry. What is important however is the attacking work that has been done. We can see what's been going on and given more time to gell and let the defence settle again we will be a force to reckon with.
When it comes to judging our youngsters, just keep David Luiz in mind. First half of the year half of us wanted to get shot of him, seasons end he played 2 heroic matches in the CL , then teamed up with another youngster Cahill to give an inspired CL final performance and take home a medal. What a difference a year of 1st team football can make. Which is why I'd love to see 4 kids in the 1st squad, and get game time this season.
Going to watch replay of match at 7.15 on Chelsea TV. First chance I've had to watch it. Sounds like it was a good game (in the first half at least). I'm glad to hear all the positive comments about Lukaku, I hope he is able (and allowed) to carry it on to the new season.
