We had him on loan for the last few games when we reached the play-off semi against Cardiff a couple of years back ...... I would describe hm as a 'journeyman' a physical presence; brave but with inconsistent decision making (prone to give silly free-kicks away - and worrying around and in the penalty area) ... he is not the player his father was by some stretch ... would be very exposed by Prem quality opposition .. IMHO.
Strov is still at the 'explorative' stage ... he's often on our board indulging in some flirty mano-e-mano keyboard wrestling with Proud Fox and AKCJ
WHT are you a sulky teenager? ... how you could interpret my post to infer that I think we are a Prem team is beyond me ... and for the record I don't ... I think we have a stronger squad with better potential than we had last year .. but that is as far as it goes .. there are only 3 promotion spots and I think they will be keenly contested by half the clubs in the division .. my hope is that we are one of those contestants and you won't see anything more bullish from me on that score until there is tangible proof of our credentials ... which can only come from performances on the pitch ... now go to your room and think about your actions.
I read it as him saying there's no point us signing Bruce now when this time next year he'll need replacing because we've been promoted. And he's got a point, looking at the other signings we're likely to make, they'd at least be good squad players if we go up. Even the old players we're being linked with you'd want around for games like Stoke.
Slightly more there than I intended Ricardo LOL ... but my main thrust was that he is, at best, IMHO, a Championship player ...
Well, without wishing to brown-tongue some Leicester **** (sorry Fossie, must keep up the facade!!), I read it that Bruce would be no good to us in the place we aspire to be and not as some kind of "Big Me" manner.
He was released from his Brum contract by mutual consent, as Bruce was permanently accused of picking him because he was his son and not because he was any good. If that alone wasn't a good enough reason not to sign him, the fact that he's a thoroughly mediocre player should definitely seal it.
.. which is a fair assessment of its' intent Strov .. leaving aside your initial remarks in the interests of keeping to the point LOL ..
For once, I think I interpreted it exactly as you meant it Fossie, I also agree. I also rather agree with OLM, whether or not he is good enough is almost academic, it would be a bad idea to sign him just because of the potential for cries of nepotism. Bad for team morale, bad for his morale, bad for the managers reputation etc!
Not sure his Dad is doing him any favours by keep signing him ... makes it very difficult for the lad to be judged purely on his own efforts on the pitch ..
