QPR man defiant despite tour snub

    Rob Hulse
A DEFIANT Rob Hulse insists he has no intention on leaving QPR and plans to see out the rest of his contract at Loftus Road.

The striker's days in W12 look numbered after he was left out of the squad for the pre-season tour to Asia, along with Joey Barton, DJ Campbell, Luke Young and Tommy Smith.

Hulse is way down the pecking order following the summer signing of Andy Johnson, but still has a year to run on his deal.

And the player's agent, Matt Buck, insists the frontman is settled in the area and is not seeking a move elsewhere, despite the snub.

He told the Chronicle: “I have spoken to Rob and he's in no rush to leave the club.

“He's disappointed that he wasn't included in the squad for the tour but he's not actively looking elsewhere.

“He's also still catching up on his fitness following his hernia problem at the end of the season.

“There's never been a discussion about him leaving QPR. His family are settled in the area and he plans to honour the contract.

“We'll see what the next few weeks bring.”

Of course he is not going anywhere as no-one would pay him the £20k a week or whatever he is on. Warnocks worse mistake in the transfer market for us.

Last year of a contract that he will not get anywhere else. Best thing we could do is send him out on loan and try and reduce some of out goings on the useless lump. Might stand a chance of off loading in jan when he only has 6 months left on his contract. Could see him, dj and smith all in the ressies until next year.

DJ is surely too good for the reserves and still wants to play. Cant see him settling for reserve team football so he will probably leave. Same as Smith.

He would surely accept going out on loan to another London club. Best option for club and player.

If this is true and bear in mind it quotes his agent then it makes me sad that players with this attitude make it to be a professional footballer when so many excellent players don't.

He is clearly not going to get a game at QPR or be in the squad and in a few years his career will be over, i hope when he looks back and counts his beans they are worth the wasted years when he choose to take the dollar rather than actually play the beautiful game he was fortunate enough to be good at.

The money will not replace the memories and achievements he simply is not going to have, and when the money is spent these are all that is left.

A sad indictment of a modern professional footballer.

Yes, I agree - Warnock signed Hulse even though he was injured. When finally fit, he didn't really cut it for us in the Championship. Some said this was due to our formation, although I do recall he played a few gritty games as the frontman.

Shame he's mentioned in the same breath as the more dignified, diligent and effective Tommy Smith.

Sure Tommy's probably (ever so slightly) out of his depth at this stage of our development. Hulse on the other hand is way out and should do the decent thing.

Trouble is they are all old and on a contract that exceeds their ability.

Now my thoughts on old players are well known and this is exactly why. At least someone like Ephraim will leave if hes not in the 25.

Loan out the chump. At least it will cut the cost of his salary. Even if its only by 5-10k a week.
