Santon will do for me, he's got a good game in him and can improve further with more PL experience behind him.

Sorry guys but who in their right minds would pay £25M for Tiote?

And no, we wouldn't, because he's not English! <steam>

Tiote is the most replaceable team member who could raise the highest price. however if this is in relation to the talksport question of "if you could sell any of your teams players who would it be?" it would have to be our very own X-I-S-C-O

He's 24/25 years old and has his best years ahead of him. Not going to go in to the lucas & tiote argument as we'll both have biased opinions but tiote is immense and integral in how we play. Although he may not be worth 25 million to buying teams he's worth more than that too us.

It's like the Carroll situation, in reality his true worth is 12-15 million, however Liverpool had to bid vastly over that amount as his worth to us at the time was more or less invaluable.

It has to be Toite - he gets so many yellow cards that he has trouble stringing games to-gether

I can't believe what I'm reading? TIOTE THE MOST REPLACEABLE PLAYER?!!! (SHOUTING IS NECESSARY, BECAUSE YOU'VE ALL GIVEN ME MIND-ACHE HAVING TO LOOK AT SUCH BLASPHEEBERS).

You have Tash saying Cabaye or Tiote because they form the basis of a great midfield, well why should we sell one then?

I'm confused, is this a thread of who we'd reluctantly let go (for either the greater good, or because they'd have the least impact, I'd assume), or one about who will fetch the best price? Has everyone turned into Mike Ashley? Am I Neo? Pretty sure I chose the blue pill... Or is this a massive joke I'm just not getting (in which case you should all apologise for giving me heart palpitations :cheesy: )...

I must be a bit of a **** here, and ask those who think Tiote is so easily replaced to explain just who they think is worthy of replacing him, along with the fee they think we'd buy them for. The young 'uns we've signed are decent, but need bedding in the team and getting used to the premier league, so they are a no-go for instant replacements. Unless you all think we should scrap next season, then we'd need someone to come in and dominate just as Tiote did. So who is that man? Jerson Cabral? He's young and probably wouldn't be effective in the premier league. Nigel De Jong? Yeah, Ben Arfa would love that. Or are you all secretly Graham Carr, fervently scouting the nether-regions like a rabid badger?

As for the common good, agree with the new lad, Tiote makes us tick, he is our best player (indeed the best I have ever seen at St James'). Losing him would be a disaster if we want to keep building up. The only winner would be Mike Ashley, who'd make a tidy profit. Even if he re-invested it, we'd have clubs essentially doing an us with Andy Carroll after the sale of Torres!

The most replaceable are obviously the reserves: Perch, R.Taylor, Williamson, Harper, Elliot, Sammy Ameobi, Gosling etc. If we had to choose a first team player, then it'd be Ba purely for the fact we'd make a profit, or Simpson based on overall contribution.

I know this is hypothetical, but some of you should be hypothetically sectioned! :p

I agree on both points. Could be worth a lot business wise but he is a fantastic talent who I'd like to see develop here. He had a very solid first season playing in a secondary position at left back. With Debuchy seemingly on route he'll remain there of course but he is high class.

He had a shocker in that friendly the othe night though! But as we all know that counts for very little. Excited by him for this season along with Cabaye. A season in foreign players tend to take big leaps forward in performance (Solano etc). Given these two already had good seasons it is reasonable to expect some good stuff from them.

As for replaceable players, I'm struggling to be honest. I definetly would not want to lose Tiote personally. It seems likely he'll stay which I didn't expect to be honest and I'll be over the moon if he does. He makes a massive difference to us. not so much last season as he wasn't at his best for a number of reasons but his first season was unbelieveable. Provided his injury niggles are behind him and he can temper his ill discipline I'm expecting something special this year from the balance of him and Cabaye.

At a push maybe Ba but I'm loathe to lose any.

A bit expensive to get that username on a team top. I've got,

But we knew that if we wound you up enough, you'd go off on one and start talking about badgers. It was the only way JPF. Cruel, but worth it. <cheers>

Ba for me. Tiote is irreplaceable for us!! He makes us tick, sets up attacks by breaking up possession he can pass it short or long. Everything you want to form the base of your midfield. Him and Cabaye in the middle are the perfect blend- finesse complimented by workrate and determination.

I concur! Amazed that some people have said tiote, he does the work of two people in midfield, hence how we got away with playing two in the middle of the park for the first two thirds of the season...at times his ball retention could be better as he has a tendency to hold on to the ball for a second too long, but can see pardew ironing that out pre season!

There are a lot of links (probably all ****e) about Ba being part of the Carroll deal.

He's a good player, but with his knees being so dodgy... I'm on the fence to say the least.

On Tiote, surely United would look to Fellaini first? He'd be cheaper and is much better in basically every aspect of the game.
