Surely we won't get vellios? He'd been getting increasingly more game time last season. A loan would be super but would he have a trial?

If we get Vellios he'd be a good signing. Looked impressive for Everton last season. I wonder why he kept getting dropped when he was Everton's best player for a period

    That's NOT what Buckingham said.

    He said there is :

    1. Proschewitz
    2. 2 Greeks, presumably Vellios (loan) and Koutsianikoulis (perm).
    3. The two Sunderland players Meyler (loan) and El Mohamady (perm).
    4. Two others, presumably Abdoulaye Faye (backup for Hibbs) and A.N.Other (dunno who).

So that's a total of 7 under consideration, but not necessarily signing all.

I think Proschewitz is now nailed on.
I think Faye would be a very good signing for 12 months just to tide us over til Hobbsy comes back.
I think Vellios probably isn't required now, given we've got Proschewitz coming in.
I think Koutsianikoulis is 50/50 depending on how he looks, should be cheap enough given the mess Greece is in.
I think Meyler will be a great loan but he will be popular with other clubs as well.
I think El Mohamady would also provide musch needed cover and competition for Rosy but I would think the price would have to come down.
A.N.Other will probably be another out of contract CB.

So we've not really got rid of that many, if any, of any of the decent players we had, and we've already signed more than I can remember in a preseason, with the talk of 2 or 3 more coming in, and still there's posts claiming we haven't signed enough and we need more?

This is taking the piss, surely?

The Allam's at least have been as good as their word, although I presume some are going to claim that's because "they had to, to save face"?

I swear to god, if we brought in Messi, Ronaldo, Cech and the german defence, there would STILL be people whinging about a lack of intent or commitment on here.

All seems quite promising right now. Out of players to leave I hope to god Cullen is one of them.

We do need a fair few in if we want to challenge at the top end. If it was up to me Cooper, Bradley (loan), McShane, Olofinjana, Cairney, Simpson and Mclean would all leave.

If we sign Faye and the German fella (cant be bothered to learn how to spell his name yet) then in one fell swoop we adress the lack of height issue that plagued us all last season. If Oli plays and Hobbs returns we go from a team of midgets to Land of the Giants overnight!

    I approve.

Meyler is away with Sunderland and El Mohamady is on holiday. The delay over Heskey is laughable if true.!!!

Nick Proschwitz signs today subject to passing a medical.

At Winterton tonight Abe Faye - Billy Koutsia - Apo Vellios(from Everton) having a try out possibly as may Nick P. Josh King and Michael Keane could also be on the way as they are not in the MU party on tour.

At some point i expect Danny East, Conor Townsend, Mark Cullen and maybe Sonny Bradley to go out on loan again. The squad looks good and with the right additions looks even better.

Paul McShane looks like he is up for the battle to gain a place but IF Crystal Palace come in for him he could well go. TWT on that one. Same for Oli i would suspect.

Gone from last season : - Basso - Gulacsi - Harper - Atkinson - Adebola - Barmby - Vito(for now). What has arrived and will arrive is a vast improvement Overall on the above. Well done the Allams.

It would be great if this happened and I presume Keane on loan from Man U. would also be on that list.
If we keep our best players and add these it looks like a proper promotion squad and even better if we can get rid of a bit of dead wood.

I don't agree with some posters that if / when we get Proschewitz we don't also need someone like Vellios, because Bruce is probably looking to play with a big striker in the team and if Prozzy (desperate for a nick-name) gets injured the system falls down. A forward choice of Prozzy, Fryatt, Mclean, Vellios and Simpson would give us a lot of options.

It's not just about what we need. Vellios already gets a bit of game time at Everton. If they send him out on loan, it will be so he can get regular football. So we may not be the most attractive proposition. Not saying it won't happen though.

Has the Vellios rumour been substantiated at all? Heard nothing from anyone reliable to say he's one of the Greeks.

That's why I said someone like Vellios, I just think having two big strikers in the group will give us better squad balance.

I simply cannot see why we'd even have a chance of getting vellios on loan, everton used him more and more last season and must be looking at using him increasingly this.
