Another exclusive from our Coxhoe reporter...

Sunderland are expected to announce the signing of Darren Bent within the next 48 hours in a ground breaking 8 million pound deal that sees Craig Gardner return home and Amy move to Hull.

Sunderland manager Martin O'Neill, speaking from the clubs training camp in Ding Pan Won province said,"Darren called me and promised to leave my kids alone if he could come home, what could I say".

Speaking exclusive to The Coxhoe Correspondent Darren said,"It's like this bro, a wuz led astray like by Amy who used me like to get away from big Ste like. A niver wanted to leave ta leave like and didnt mean it aboot a bigger club, Amy put me up to it. A canny wait to get back out at the Stadium of Light and play for the governor. Amy is shacked up with a riveter from Hull and sees her ma and pa every Sunday".

The new strike partnership of Bent and Carroll gives O'Neill a major headache, does he go Mandy Bent or Bent Mandy, both have a certain ring and charm.

Funny! But there may be a grain of truth in this if you have a read of the Journal article on Carlos Cuellar this morning http://www.journallive.co.uk/safc/safc-news/2012/07/17/darren-bent-advice-proves-persuasive-for-carlos-cuellar-61634-31408821/

He tells how Darren Bent advised him this was a great place to come, and how he praised the fans, the club and the area. My first thought was "Are the club starting a charm offensive, to soften up the supporters, because MON wants to buy him?"

It is possible Bent was only trying to curry favour to reduce the heckling when he comes this season, but many of us believed there was more to his transfer than met the eye, and I have never seen any press articles where he slagged us off, even after the 'beating' he took here last season.

I am sure many on here would not be happy but I would take back our 'Prodigal Son' in a heartbeat. He would be a perfect fit for the way MON likes to play and no one can deny he is the goalscorer we are desperate for.

I would take him back, cant say I would ever have the same feeling of love and admiration but we need a goal scorer and scoring is what Bent does.

Snap. It would be a long road for him to take in order to win fans back of he came here. But I think he could do it, eventually....

I mentioned it on another thread earlier even though it was just a fly-by & got shot down, not exactly in a blaze of glory.

to be honest he is the best available within our budget. He also happy to live in the NE. Can see it for 2 reasons though: His England career (although that might now be over) and wages as we wont pay him silly money.

Is a shame really as there are 3 quality English strikers available this summer: Bent, Defoe & Caroll, all would fit MON's way of thinking but all 3 will not come for 1 reason or another. Its a shame as we will probably end up with Fetcher who is not as good as any of those 3.

This totally. We can't cut our throats to spite our face. He, imo, is the best out and out goal scorer we've had in a long time (since SKP) and I must admit, I'm much softened these days.

Were if to come back I'd be happy enough as he would solve our striker problem in a sniff and my thoughts about the Cuellar article made me think too. Fletcher and Bent?

    Happy days? Maybe?

Might be interesting if some 'twitterers' contacted him to say some (many?) of us are willing to forgive and forget and how would he feel if MON came in for him? I guess he is under contract so won't be able to say too much but we all know if players want to go, they manage a transfer somehow.

I am sure MON will be very grateful for the fans organising his transfer targets while he is in Korea too!!

Yes I am afraid it is true. Although I do not think we have really got to the bottom of why he left in the first place, yes he was going to paid more cash and that may be that, but I suspect there may have been a few other twists and turns in th saga..including a female influence there usually is!

We had a problem when Bent was here.

No one else scored. I dont want that to be the case again.

One 25 goal striker or 2 15 goal strikers with goals popping up from midfield?

I know which one I would rather

I'd have him back in a blink.

I'd forgive him the second he scored (likely his debut, let's be honest).

I'm gonna also message him on Twitter!

If he'd been here last season we'd have been so close to the Mags, and more importantly, Europe.

God how bad are we??? Bent shipped up and buggered off and was the hate off everyone and I mean everyone. I can find a tread on here from everyone slagging Bent off.

    Don't stoop so low guys.

MON will be back next week and the real business will start. Just hope he can get a striker in that can deliver the goods. As for Bent..... Lets not go down this road lads.

OR it could be a desperate attempt by Villa to try and show him he's wanted, could be a hint that he fancies ducking out...

Seriously, Bent is NOT a captain, not in a million years.
