Aston Villa are interested in signing Lee Cattermole. The 24-year-old is in the final 12 months of his contract at Sunderland, but Martin O’Neill is eager to ensure him to a new deal before the start of the season. However, Villa are interested in signing the former Middlesbrough man, and are believed to be lining up a £5million bid to lure him from the Stadium of Light. Paul Lambert is eager to add more steel to his midfield, and despite his controversial disciplinary record, he feels Cattermole could be a huge asset.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I know quite a few will disagree but we are so average in central midfield its unbelievable! We are one paced, no creativity, no willingness to get into the box and there all a bunch of midgets.

Every single one of them is replaceable and as Catts is entering the final year of his contract I hope we snap there hands off and take the 5m

If we want to be a top 8-10 team we need a central midfield that has something about them and for me out of our bunch there is only Colback that has something about there game.

Take the money and bring in someone with some quality on the ball who can get us ticking.

I'd let him go for five if we had someone else in mind. Not a huge fan.

We should sell him only if we can replace him. How much did we get him for anyway? I reckon we should at least hold out for more than 5 mil

What a clown you are! He's the best cm we got I would sell Gardner, meyler, vaughn, and colback before I sold him. IMO I would get rid of Gardner because he doesn't want to be their and vaughn who's been pretty diabolical in a Sunderland shirt and bring in the lad N'zonzi.

around 5-6m mate and with a year to go on his contract I think 5m is the best we can hope for.

there is some good midfielders out there esp. in the french league and we could bring in someone who would offer us so much more than Catts does for around 5-7m. Would even be very happy if we replaced him with Anita.

cheers pal and the thing is it aint football manager, who knows if teams are going to come in for any of those players and we cannot wait for that to happen because it might not, 5m for Catts would be a good price. I like N'Zonzi but if he was played next to Catts we would be no further forward in terms of a better central midfield, they would offer nothing going forward

The thing is, on his day he can be brilliant. Do we want to get rid of what has become one of our rocks for an untried French player? Newcastle did that, haven't heard from any of them. I think is was Cowbell or something... ;)

But seriously, I think he's still one to keep hold of.

We should keep him.....when he plays he wears his heart on his shoulder for the team....That photograph of MON greeting him after the Man City game says it all.

Aquiliani - been told he can go for 6m, everyone always talks about him being a flop but nobody seems to point out that he was injured and not match fit for a huge majority of it or the fact that he topped the charts for the most assists for the second half of his season at Liverpool and that was when he came into the team and wasn't match fit.

I have watched the lad a few times and just from warming up he has a touch of class about him, his touch and ability is just far superior than what we have. The risk with creative players from top clubs and Milan and Juve certainly have that is when they drop to a club who is nowhere near as superior like our lot and there is nothing wrong with that when u are talking about Juve and Milan is that he could be on a different wavelength to our lot and at times could make him look a tad silly when at Milan the same move, pass, bit of skill would of made him look a genius! Still would love him here 100%

    others... Anita, Capoue, Sissoko, Fernandes

Pranjic is a free agent after his contract ran out at Bayern

    he also would be fantastic

brilliant at left back, centre mid and left wing, has pace and would offer creativity
