Liverpool aim to stop QPR making another Korean signing Jul 11, 2012 0 comments 0 An exit from Celtic Park looks likely for Ki and he could join fellow Korean Park at QPR Queenâs Park Rangers are looking to make Park Ji-Sung feel at home at Loftus Road by signing compatriot Ki Sung-Yeung but face competition from several other clubs including Liverpool. Park completed his transfer from Manchester United to QPR on Monday and Chairman Tony Fernandes has admitted that Parkâs international teammate at South Korea could soon be joining him in London. Fernandes said: âKi is a very good player and we are very aware of him. âHe is a player we will be watching and also monitoring closely.â Ki, who was named Young Asian Player of the Year in 2009, has played for Scottish champions Celtic since 2009 but is looking increasingly likely to leave the club this summer. Rubin Kazan have already had a £6million bid rejected for the 23-year old who has already played 45 times for his country. Liverpool are also keen on the Korean and Brendan Rodgers is an admirer of Kiâs ability to pass the ball and keep possession. Ki played four times at the 2012 World Cup for his country, assisting in two goals and a pass completion rate on par with Spanish star Xavi. Ki, who has often been dubbed the Korean Steven Gerrard, would prefer a move to Liverpool but stated in May he must be guaranteed first-team football if he decides to leave Celtic. âIt has to be a team that I can play for. If I can play on the pitch, it doesnât matter which league it is,â he said. âI think Iâve grown up after playing in the SPL. Even if itâs not a âbig league,â if I can just play, I will be able to develop myself more and get more good experiences.â The recent purchase of Park could sway Ki into making a move to London ahead of a possible transfer to Liverpool or Russia and would see the Korean trading the green and white hoops of Celtic for the blue and white hoops of QPR.
"but stated in May he must be guaranteed first-team football if he decides to leave Celtic" ================================================== He won't get that at QPR never mind Liverpool.
See my concerns on the thread that should never have been. Attracting players to a team that finished 17th and can't guarantee first team football will be difficult (ie we absolutely MUST finish top 10 IMO to maintain the momentum).
