Morning Everyone, Luke Varney and David Norris are expected to finally resolve their futures this week, having been left at home while the Portsmouth squad are in Spain. Varney has already spoken to Leeds about a move north, with United also keen on landing Norris, also wanted by Sheffield Wednesday. (No contest there!!!) Bolton remain favourites to sign Andy Lonergan, although other Championship sides, including Ipswich, are interested. Billy Paynter is wanted by Millwall to bolster their ageing squad, but Paynter was apparantly more interested in a move to Wakefield Town Cash from the sale of Lonergan is expected to be used to push through a deal for SK Brann midfielder Rodolph Austin, who scored for his club on Sunday. He has also been quoted as saying he would like to come to Leeds. Brann are understood to have already turned down a bid in the region of £200,000 for Austin â out of contract in December and are holding out for a fee closer to £300,000. We remain favourites to sign Leicester City full-back Lee Peltier.
Morning Elland and all... A couple of weeks back I was feeling very positive in regards to the takeover, now I am feeling more drained with it and just wish one way or another it was over with. I know everyone says Due Diligence can and does take a long time but come on, Watford and Forest are all done and dusted and takeover talk with them started a good while after us. Yes we are talking Bates and probably a complicated trail but the longer this goes on the more damaging it is for us. Portsmouth chiefs said Norris and Varney would be sorted by last Wednesday, Thursday at the latest, we have had Peltier lined up for 3 weeks now, these are players that should be with their new team mates preparing for a new season ahead, we need to come out against Shrewsbury or Wolves looking like a team and playing like a team, not a group of player thrown together at the last minute. We obviously can't afford Austin at the moment, how many other clubs are now alerted to his availability, all quite concerning. Finally to top off my feeling of being a bit fed-up and down about all this, it looks like the new owner(s) are not going to have that much money. Disputed or not, he has a gambling debt, if he was that flush wouldn't he have just paid it? Strange that in the official sites quote on the possible new owners they make a point of saying that they have no reason to believe they wouldn't pass a fit owners test (a clue in regards to gambling debts).
The speculation about who the potential new owners are, could be way off the mark. The latest favourite who was supposedly the guy from 2003 (Who Bates ridiculed) may have nothing at all to do with this. On the one hand LUST started the ball rolling a few weeks ago by telling us that a deal was being looked at, and they had spoken to certain parties. Since then LUST have said nothing at all, which makes me think they have only 'bigged themselves up', otherwise they could end the speculation. Remember LUST spoke about Chicago based investors, and then it moved to Californian and Canadian and all they had to do was say Canada, USA, Middle East at least that would end some of the speculation. So I'm not even bothering to think about it anymore, until something official comes out. The club have been quiet now a for 3-weeks so either DD is nearing a conclusion or they want further questions answered with documentation. The spiders web of tenious links between different companies tied into the club, and the offshore nature of said companies, plus any transfer of funds from the investor to Bates & Co, could be a hurdle because bates will want cash moved offshore away from HMRC, so that shell companies or offshore accounts are used. Things are never simple with Bates and remember he shafted Abramovitch, so whoever is looking at our books would need to be switched on. Lets face it, would you just blindly give Bates the asking price ..... You may just end up owning a name, a few players and club shop, whilst Bates and mates still own the rest
They did and I believe over the weekend, they said there were only a few loose ends to tie up. Patience is a virtue, unfortunately I'm not blessed with much of it
your takeover will not be for at least 2 weeks Sheikh yahead has put 500k on Bahrain winning the Olympics quoting if it comes off i intend to buy Leeds United if it fails i am emigrating to China,, Sheikh mahead said i will still be interested in Leeds if Elvis is still alive cos i have 500k riding on that too a william hill spokesman said a mystery punter (said to be a sheikh from Bahrain) has placed a 1 million pound bet with them that Ken Bates will still be chairman by this time next year. Oh well one out of 3 aint bad he will be quids in
Apparently the new Chairman is a certain Sheikh everypennyoutatheNorthernmonkeys who is exiled in Monaco due to crimes of passion
Morning all. Quiz question of the day as we welcome the Olympic family. Which will be resolved quicker, queuse on the M4 for normal punters as they keep out of the olypic lanes, athletes clearing Heathrow immigration, or the takeover deal at Elland Road?
Plenty of Millwall boys again. They're suffering from Stockholm syndrome you know. I'll bet any money some of them are whistling 'Marching on Together' as they work. I use the term loosely. How long before TC and Mighty bump into each other on the Old Kent Road and give each other the Leeds salute? Anyone else notice that the official site has no cookies policy yet? Even Millwall have a policy! Typical Leeds. Why worry about the law?
26 metres No cant say i noticed Leeds o/s has no cookie policy But good to see you noticed the Millwall site has i bet you sing no one likes us when your at work (and i use the term loosely)
I'm an Ulster prod Mighty. Of course no-one likes us. I only checked the Millwall site to find the name of a road nearby to use in my previous post. I thought you were closer to Shepherd's Bush
Calm down. We've already agreed a fee for Austin and Forest's takeover talks started weeks before ours and had a much less complicated path to completion, while Watford's new owner was already involved with the cub.
Elland you were going to use the loners monies to buy Kenny, then you were going to use it to buy the guy from Leicester, now your using it to buy Austin. A tenner goes a long way up north eh!! will the same monies be buying reg varney and chuck norris ?
Is that definitely Simon? I thought we were around £100k apart in valuations or has something else happened in the past 24-48hrs? I thought the Clayton money was to secure Peltier, Norris and Varney and Warnocks hand was forced to use it in purchasing Kenny as someone else came in for him? We refused a bid of £200K for Lonergan, will Bolton double it and if so surely this will finally be used for those three rather than Austin (although personally I would prefer Austin)

I did read that hence why I wondered if Simon had better news as the YEP does tend to publish articles scrapped from forums and twitter.
