Just a simple poll to see what you think about Mandy and a potential return.
The main thread is still the place to debate this wider issue.

Whilst I'm not crying for him to come back, if we could arrange a silly deal then I'd be happy.

£10m and £50kpw max would be tidy. Can't see it happening but if it did I'd not complain.

Do I want him back? No.
Would I accept him coming back? Yes.

so we sell Carroll to Liverpool for 35m and then loan him back 2 seasons later with an option to buy for around 13m... so basically we would make 22m for essentially 'loaning' him to Liverpool for 2 years, and we used that money to buy the likes of Ben Arfa, Cabaye, Cisse, Ba, Santon, (Debuchy) ect... WHAT A DEAL

Carroll's a handful but we've moved on in the 18 months or so since he left. I think our current front two will each score more goals in the coming season than Carroll will. It seems quite a few people think he would be good as an impact substitute. That would be quite an expensive luxury imo.

Agree with all that except the last line. With Europa + ACON games, we might need the extra depth up front.

    Aree!
It's already a great bit of business - but to get him back on the cheap would make it all the more amusing.

    I'd take him back but
    a) he doesn't get the no.9 shirt back
    b) he's third choice behind the dembas

I'd be happy to have him back but I don't actually believe there has been any contact. For a start if we'd made a derisory bid, Liverpool would have been quick to refuse it pubically (not least to get the best price they can). All we have got at the minute is we're "understood to have made a bid" and they're "understood to have rejected it". Sounds like horseshit.

I went with 'no'. Just don't see where he would fit in and think the money (no matter how funny it would be) should be invested in a player capable of starting, not one to come off the bench if all else fails.

Disagree. Why would we put a firm offer in when we can probably try and unsettle him first and shave an extra few million off the asking price. We are playing the game. I'd be all for getting him back on loan (with no concrete obligation to buy at the end of the season) but think we could probably find someone better suited to the way we play for the figures being bandied about.

What are you diagreeing with mate, I'm a bit slow this morning? There is not one quote attirbuted to either club. This is just something "Sky sources" started chucking around yesterday and has built steam. There is still no official comment. Therefore these sources carry as much credence in reporting factual football stories as HP sauces!

Just disagree that it is horseshit. I'm usually the first to dis-credit a story but if I was serious about bringing Carroll back to the club, in these circumstances, this is exactly how I would play it too. Try and unsettle him further to the point he wants the move. Once that happens, we are in the driving seat when it comes to negotiations. This is why I reckon we have made an enquiry and made it public.

If we are playing thursday sunday for an extended period this season, we will need more than Ba and Cisse. Carroll is underrated in my opinion and would provide a class option for league and cup. There will be enough games this season to keep all 3 happy.
