We have Raylor for back-up, also Fergie and Tav so not too short, hoping that obviously the latter two are up to scratch if needed in a run of games.

I agree with you mate but somehow suspect that Simmo is on his way and we wont sign another full back.

Once again I don't need to do anything MATE.

For me Simpson was the obvious weak link last season, if we can bring in a fee for him and bring in an international right back to replace him then I'm 100% on board.

I think Pardew has proven in recent interviews that this season will be about giving the youngsters more of a chance, I don't expect Debuchy to be injured long term (touch wood) but if he is out for the odd game or two here and there then it will be a perfect opportunity for young Tav to get some minutes.

Perch showed that he is extremely capable of playing DM and both fullback positions very well when called upon aswell, and not to mention Raylor, although I agree not a great fullback has a good game in him + the majority of these players can cover more than one position which is more than we can say about Simpson.

He had his chance to sign a new lucrative deal and rejected it because it would seem IMO that he has delusions of grandeur that he is a top class right back when in reality he is mediocre at best.

It's time to move onto bigger and better.

The only thing that slightly bothers me is that I love to have a team with a good english core in the side, but that's a preference not a necessity, quality is more important that english players overall, just hope Stevie Taylor can stay fit though.

Should have used a ball pen instead of ink.
