OK, that's a reasoned response. At what price would you think either of these guys were good value?

Why is looking at what rivals are saying masochism? You are odd sometimes.

No vision, no ambition? So, signing possible future England internationals at a good price is showing a lack of ambition?

We're not scared of spending money, just careful, as we nearly went of existance recently. Your comment that we sounded as if it was our own money made me laugh, as that's what you guys do all the time with the Mittals' money!

We'd love to spend millions we haven't got for sure! <doh>

We got Cisse for about £4m. They basically are throwing that feee away because we wont get it back and thats about the limit we should pay for old players unless its a world class player and I dont think either of them are, especially Berbetov if he made it here. He got the same attitude as Bothroyd which I hate.

28 goals in his last 44 games at the highest level possible. And what "World Class" players are likely to come to Loftus Road ahead of say Real Madrid, Barcelona and Man United?

Have you banged your head or summat?

Ok, I know this will be controversial, but do we need either?

We already have Cisse, Zamora and (I would assume) Johnson on very big contracts. Do we want to commit another 50k per week plus on players that are getting long in the tooth, when there are other positions that the money could be better spent?

Are we starting to sign players got the sake of it, when between Mackie, Johnson, Helgusson (if he stays) and Tarrabt, we have more than enough cover if and when Zamora and Cisse are out.

Whilst I know we can afford it, I don't want us to turn into a smaller version of Chelsea or City, where money is suddenly washing around and being spent, as I said earlier, for the sake of being spent.

Strikers are only as good as the service provided. 28 goals in 44 games is an excellent strike rate, but remember that's playing for ManUre who steamroller opposition into submission with wave after wave of chances. He won't get anywhere near that service with us. That said he's still a class act and an improvement on what we have.

Two years ago we were signing Rob Hulse...<yikes>

Imagine a QPR attack line of Cisse with EITHER Defoe or Bebatov !
If we could get one of the latter plus Chris Samba in defence, then surely we could be pushing for mid table or even dare I say it ' a push for a eufa spot ' !! Well I can dream ......

Berbatov had massive talent as he showed at Spurs, and hasn't had the chance to utilise it at ManU. MH could be the man to motivate him. I'd prefer him to Defoe.

As for the bit about letting Helguson go, I'd be disappointed. Obviously, recurrent injuries may be the problem, but a fit HH is truly effective as we've seen

I think Hughes will play with Zamora as his main striker with either cisse or Johnson .

And how is it throwing money away his goals kept us in the league so you get more money then if we would have gone down so this makes no sense. you have too spend to move up the league And Berbetov would help us do that and would be a great sighing.

The difference is Berbatov has more skill in his little toe than Bothroyd and is a proven striker at the highest level. We could write-off £20-30 million on some of our signings, but if it establishes us in the PL and attracts better players in the future it will have turned out to be a wise investment...

I think Flyer was trying to make the point that if we spent £8 million, Samba would be better value for money.
That said, I'd take either Defoe or Berbatov, the latter preferably. Not sure about the price tags though.

I think that's what most of us are getting at. Good player but £8m for berbatov is a f***ing joke. The fact that people go along with it makes me wonder sometimes....

I'm not a fan of his laconic style but 28 in 44 is impressive. I would defo have him if we can but £8m a big number. Still Liverpool have just paid £10m+ for Borini so what do I know?

They will never play together. We play a 442 with a big man and a fast man.

We wont play with 2 big men or with 2 fast men so wed have to pick
    1 of
    Zamora
    HH
    Bothroyd
    and 1 of
    Cisse
    Johnson
    Defoe/Berbatov

Signing Berbatov of Defore hardly improves our lineup as wed have to drop Cisse. A fast striker is the last position we need to strengthen apart from goalie.

I'm very surprised at your thoughts on this lads. Eight Million quid on a defender? We're not Real Madrid FFS!

If he keeps us in the Premier league then he would be a bargain. How many clean sheets did we have last season?
Agree that it's lots of pennies though!
