3. Southampton at home under Grant was my first game at Carrow Road (as the only Norwich fan in my family since i was 10, living all the way in Brighton, it was a long while after i had nailed my colours to the mast before i had the privilege of taking seat to watch us in action - as for why i'm a Norwich fan is a story for another day). Watching it with my Dad with us down 1-0, until near the 80th minute, my father saw witness to the pendulum of emotion i experienced that day. From, he said, being the most depressed he had ever seen me, to the happiest and most buoyant after Jamie Cureton scored his double, giving the unjustified impression that he was a worthy successor for Earnshaw. The second being scored from an indirect free kick (a rule that had until then evaded me) left me with a peculiar feel of very recondite ecstasy - utter confusion and lack of comprehension, yet overwhelmed with emotion.

2. Cardiff away under Roeder on the radio, with our side spearheaded by (the one we'd now never dare to call a) cult hero, Ched Evans. Cardiff were probably the only side in the league that possessed form better than our own at the time - a draw was a result most, if not all, Canaries would have settled for prior to kick off. Things looked promising when Ched stepped up to the mark and scored early on, only with Cardiff to equalise just before the half time whistle. Late into injury time, many were happy to settle with what we had; but Evans, with the ball at his feet just past the half way line, with the likes of Huckerby (later admitting to) shouting for him to run it into the corner, with confidence unbeknown to all but him hit the ball with a fercious force not seen of a Canary since the days of Graham Paddon. Hearing this in but mear words from an exuberant Chris Goreham (we've since become accustomed to), the ball hit the top corner of the net, and i proceeded to lose control of my jubilant bodily functions.

1. As many others admit to, the one in most recent memory is Jacksons final goal against Derby, to complete a double hattrick in a month, an unlikely win, and a result that would set the stage for one of the biggest occasions in the clubs history, and certainly its biggest financial injection. Past the 5th minute of extra time, later than any of the 12 other telling injury time goals that season of which preceeded it. After a chance by Jackson to net the winner, and a corner seemingly bouncing round a cluster of bodies, that the ball was to fortuitously come off Jackson and land in the net, and simultaneously bestow so much relief, joy, and security against a backdrop of so many years of opposites to those precious feelings meant something quite deep to every Canary following the events that day. The words and emotion so palpable in the voices of Goreham and Neil Adams goes without saying. A moment i, and many others will forever value and treasure in association with our beloved club.

this is naturally very difficult but i think i can narrow it down to three!

1) my first away game - millwall v norwich, robert fleck's acrobatic winner. it was an incredible match and an incredible experience. gunn played an absolute blinder and the winner sent us back to the top of the old division one

2) jackson winner v derby county - never seen celebrations like that before

3) the whole day at the play offs - it was just an amazing trip, i know we lost but it didn't really matter. the whole event was spectacular

near miss - fratton park last may. amazing scenes but because of the events earlier that day when cardiff got trounced, it felt almost inevitable that the gods were with us that night

Taken from Wonky's op:
"We all know what it's like to be a supporter so I want to know your top three moments as a supporter of Norwich City. Not necessarily the best moments on the pitch but when you have felt complete ecstasy as being a supporter of your team. Something that has made you cheer the loudest or feel overwhelmed with emotion. Something you will never forget."

Jarold's post above is a fine example. So come on Warky, we all know about Towns silverware, but that aside, what are your moments?

Over nearly 40 years I have too many to list but at random:

1. 1975 Filbert Street Town v Leeds FA Cup Semi Final replay and Clive Woods curls a sublime winner into the goal that I was sat behind.
2. 1981 UEFA Cup Final v AZ Alkmaar Johnny Wark's Volley to win to the UEFA Cup
3. 1999 Play Off 1st Leg Away at Bolton, Marcus Stewart scores an amazing solo second goal and runs over to me sitting behind the goal
4. 1992 Premiership Gary Smegson scores an og to beat the scum just pure comedy gold
5. 2000 Losing at Carrot Road and all the budgies screaming abuse at us only for us to go on and win the play-offs
6. 1978 FA Cup v Bristol Rovers away watching Robin Turner equalise twice to keep us in the Cup on a snow coverfed pitch and freezing my bollocks off.
7. 2001 The Great Man comes back to Portman Rd and we give him a standing ovation. The tears in Bobby's eye's... The man is very much missed and will always be a legend.
8. 1992 Oxford Away getting the points we need to win promotion to the Premiership and become champions.
9. 1981 UEFA Cup Semi Final Second Leg v Cologne - my first ever trip abroad and the mighty Town beat the much fancied German Side thanks to Terry Butcher. We were in the final!

Supers that's the same arguement you always come out with! <ok> I was very fortunate to have witnessed some wonderful football matches and to watch us beat some of the best teams in Europe. It makes me laugh when you lot recall some game or other but the fact is you still haven't witnessed your team win any major silverware.

no, but thats my point! had i been a town fan born in 1981, i STILL wouldn't have witnessed my team win hardly anything (of note)! any ipswich fan born at the same time as me will never have witnessed any of your glories, so its obviously great for you that you can recall these memories, but for a huge number of fans they weren't even around for them. that's why i find it funny when you get young ipswich fans telling us that 'we've won **** all' when they haven't seen their own team win anything either. to me, ipswich have always been regarded as a 2nd tier football team. they probably always will be too.

There's nothing like having a selective memory to make an arguement!

You will never win one major trophy let alone 3 <ok> The point is we have done it and I have seen it whereas all you can look back on is being one of the also rans! <laugh>

its not selective memory though is it! how can i miss something i wasn't around to see? because i have no recollection of ipswich ever doing anything, it means literally nothing to me. i'm sure norwich fans old enough to witness it may feel jealousy or maybe they were even pleased for you, who knows - some will have watched us win the league cup and i'm sure they are very proud of that achievement but to me, it means literally nothing at all. it is totally irrelevant to me because i never saw it happen, therefore i feel absolutely nothing towards it. just like england winning the world cup in 66 - it means diddly until they win it when i see it for myself. my early years from 87-94, winning the championship in 2004, even the league one title, the last three years - they all mean something to me, but nothing else. think yourself lucky you were alive to witness your clubs great achievements - you won't see the like of that again. i think myself lucky that i got to watch my own team during decent times in the late 80s early 90s and again now. it might not square up to ipswich of the late 70s early 80s, but its as good if not better than anything ipswich have done during that same period, and as thats all i've ever known, i'm pretty happy with that thanks <ok>

I think you will find Supers that over your lifetime the honours between us are about even! <ok> In fact probably more in our favour as we have qualified twice for the UEFA and you bing relegated to league 1. From 1995 to 2003 we finished every season above you and the period from 06 to 10 so that's getting on for 12 seasons there in your lifetime. Not even counting the ones from 1981 to 1985.

yeah, the fair play league is a great way to qualify when you've just been relegated! to be fair though, we actually qualified four times between 85 and 93 but weren't allowed to compete because of the heysel disaster, so make of that what you will. norwich have certainly had the better of things during my life time - other than a brief spell when you got back to the premier league, league placings have gone back and forth but norwich have achieved 3rd, 4th and 5th in the top flight, two fa cup semi finals, qualified for europe four times (albeit only allowed to enter once), spent more time in the top flight too, so other than finishing higher in the championship a few times (but only once being promoted on those occasions) and us going to league one, i really think you're talking nonsense. since i started going, ipswich have only spent 5 years in the top flight, norwich have spent 12, so you can easily see why i think of ipswich as being an unsuccessful 2nd tier team. for the record, i believe norwich to be that too!
