Seems to me we ought to have a thread to cover the tour and games that begin next Wed in Seattle. I haven't been able to find a list of players that have gone on tour. Has anyone else heard who travelled?
Squad is on Chelsea website: http://www.chelseafc.com/page/LatestNews/0,,10268~2849259,00.html Looks like we've brought a lot of our youngsters out with us, which should be good experience for them.
We've got 4 guys playing in the Olympic competition, so it looks like poor old Juan Mata wont be getting a break this summer (if you could call it that).
Petr Cech, Ross Turnbull, Henrique Hilario, Jamal Blackman, Paulo Ferreira, Sam Hutchinson, Branislav Ivanovic, David Luiz, Gary Cahill, Michael Essien, John Mikel Obi, Josh McEachran, Ramires, Frank Lampard, Kevin De Bruyne, Marko Marin, Eden Hazard, Gael Kakuta, Yossi Benayoun, Romelu Lukaku, Todd Kane, Nathaniel Chalobah, George Saville, Lucas Piazon, Patrick Bamford. And Ashley Cole, John Terry, Florent Malouda, Raul Meireles and Fernando Torres - will join up during the course of the tour. Ryan Bertrand, Daniel Sturridge, Oriol Romeu and Juan Mata will instead prepare for and compete in the Olympics.
Completely agree.... hopefully we work him into the squad like we have done with Bertrand... two quality full backs
one thing that is noticeable about the squad is the lack of experience upfront. I know Torres and Sturridge are not there but take them away and we sure look a bit light. Lukaku and Bamford!!!!! I wonder if we'll see Hazard leading the line during the tour.Almost will have to.
Starting xi v Seattle: Hilario Chalobah, Ivanovic, Luiz, Ferreira Mikel, McEachran Benayoun, Hazard, Marin Lukaku
Lukaku scores in the second minute, McEachran did well to win a tackle and play a nice ball through and Lukaku outmuscles the defender and finishes nicely.
Hazard scored a deflected finish after a neat little dribble, but a poor McEachran pass went straight to Montero who scored. 2-1.
Lukaku! 4-2! Marin with the pass put Lukaku through on goal. Lukaku's second touch was poor, but he got there just before the keeper to tuck it in his near post. HT
