OK so what do we think our first XI should be, assuming Beavon goes? This is what I'd like to see:

    GK: Bull

    FB: McCoy
    CB: Big Dave
    CB: Doherty
    FB: Basey

    MID: Lewis
    MID: Blooms
    MID: Spring
    MID: Grant
    MID: Wood

    CF: Logan

Still think we can do with another decent striker as I don't think McClure's ready to start up front every game yet, and not sure about Oli. Hence 4-5-1. I see Angol the boy from Spurs hasn't been listed on the offal website yet. Logan will get goals but not sure if he'll be a 20 goal a season man.

not bad jock but i would have leon in stead of winfield and drop grant to the bench for another striker, grant is too inconsistent,he has undoubted talent but goes missing in a lot of games

yeah maybe - reckon Johnson/Winfield are pretty interchangeable but thought Winfield might get better as he's younger. Wouldn't mind seeing grant at this level though.

last season winfields distribution was very poor jock he consistantly gave the ball away every bloody game.he needs to win the ball and then give a simple pass to a midfielder who can pass it on and help us keep possession of the ball.

well i didnt see him as much as you so i'll take your word on that. If Johnson's got the legs then he'd be better (not that I'm saying Dave's exactly Usain Bolt)

i think we need to hit the ground running and see where we are at xmas time and kick on from there,we do have a good enough squad for this division on paper but lets see how the first couple of months go first.

I've added a link to this from the Squad Thread so that this can be easily found and used throughout the season, if that would be useful.

This is exactly the team I would start with as well. The problem of centre backs playing the ball out of defense is unavoidable imo, as I wasn't convinced that Leon, Dave or Stewart could pass out from defense. I'd also keep playing Grant, as despite his inconsistency he does have the ability to change the game when he's playing and at times can look championship/ league 1 standard on his day. I'd still like another striker, as I'm not sure about any of the strikers at the moment.

On top of this, we haven't taken Lee Angol or Denis Oli into account at all here.

Oli's got good experience but don't know much more about him really. Wikipedia says he's not got a great goals to game ratio, but he's classed as a winger/striker so if he's played mainly on the wing then that's not a problem. A very limited knowledge guess would say he's going to be a squad/sub player, but Beavon was signed as a non-league striker and wasn't a first team regular... stranger things have happened.

And Angol's a total unknown. He could be a star, or not!

On paper we've got a squad good enough to go up. However in light of the close season's shenanigans, I'd be pleased with comfortable mid table and a decent balance sheet.

Talking of balance sheets, is there any more news about the club's financial position following the change of ownership?

i'm reserving my judgement until a few game have gone by and everyone is match fit. Thought Donnelly was a complete dog until he reached match fitness and then he was like a man possessed. Probably gained us that promo to league 1 with his last few performances.
Also we haven't seen how these players are going to fit in. There is bound to be one "boo boy" in the pack. Exciting times though!!

From what I can see from the trust statement WWFC Ltd is debt free and just has to pay its expenses. It also has no assets apart from the players.

The Frank Adams Legacy owns the assets and I assume the residual debt to Hayes. (When the accounts are filed I will give you exact figures).

This means WWFC and Wasps if they stay will pay rent to FAL. The trust said that the outstanding debt to Hayes was interest free and would be paid off over a long period.

    Hope this helps.

Thanks New-wycombe. I wonder how they propose to pay it back (how much is it?). Who owns FAL and what is the financial relationship between FAL and WWFC Ltd?

The Trust own both Frank Adams Legacy Limited (FALL) and Wycombe Wanderers FC.
