Run for Moore - a UK-wide series of men-only fundraising events. Bang goes your argument. What kind of a twat would sue a charity anyway?
It makes you a bit slow, if you can't see the obvious. Next time a black person upsets you, call him that and see what you get. I garuntee you'll upset him more than if you just call him a c**t
It's the same as when Arlene Phillips used to basically lech over the young attractive male contestants on Strictly come dancing. If Len Goodman had done that to young attractive female contestants he'd have been sacked. Anyway, back to John Terry, as soon as Anton Ferdinand said that he never heard it I despaired for the chance of a prosecution. Very different to prove an offence beyond reasonable doubt if the main witness doesn't know whether it happened.
Pretty sure Bruce Forsyth has been getting away with that for decades. It's incredibly shallow and materialistic, but I wouldn't go as far as calling it sexist.
Because it's unnecessary. And somebody has been prosecuted under the same offence against a white person. A group of asian lads were found guilty of racially aggravated ABH for using the term white bastard before they beat up the guy.
Well the fact that most people wont have even heard of it means its not a very good example of a case where there wouldnt be mass sexism claims.
No one will claim sexism against a charity. Ever. Start up an all-male charity if you like, no one will sue.
Humour often is sexist because comedy is usually based on the human condition. I can laugh at both digs at women and men. Humour can also come from racial differences and misconceptions. Comedy should involve both sides, where even the target can laugh in recognition at the dig. But there is always a line not to cross...good comedians understand that.
I don't think that's racist either, but, fair enough. Just something I personally disagree with knowing I wouldn't be racially offended by someone calling me a white bastard.
You might be more offended if it happened to you in Nigeria or somewhere like that. I always maintain that racism is far worse when you're a minority.
got the impression Rio was behind this a lot more than Anton, also makes me wonder wether thats why Rio was not picked for england, not sure Hogson would have been impressed with one player trying to take another to court over what was very dubious circumstances ,Terry,s a knob but has never but given 100% when playing for England,
The offence isn't technically about racism in my opinion, it's about giving an extra punishment if there is a hint that the offence was committed for reasons of race. That is why the offence is racially AGGRAVATED assualt and not racial assault. That is why you don't need an overtly racist term, just any term that makes reference to the victims race.
Possibly, who knows. Either way any kind of racial abuse is stupid - not like sexism because at least men being better than women is fact.
Surely simple good manners means we try not to offend other people unnecessarily? If something I don't find offensive is nevertheless offensive to someone else, I won't say it. Unless it's certain to get a laugh.
My point is that you can get charities that are sexist towards men and women, and neither would be sued. Thus showing that the sexism thing goes both ways.
