Comments about Deeney and McGinn in the WO. http://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sport/9810827._We_want_all_the_facts_before_deciding_on_Deeney_/
Reading after Maps, too http://www.getreading.co.uk/sport/f...tand_in_the_way_of_reading_fc_target_mariappa
again. I'm certain he'll go in the summer, and i'd say Reading was the best choice he's got...so far...
He must want to play in the prem, he is at about the peak of his career and an international. He has given his all for Watford. Mapps " just one more season and we MIGHT go up," contrast that to "join a Prem club now and it will be M City / M Utd / Newcastle / Arsenal home and away next season." I'd be very happy and surprised if we can keep hold of him. Also it might be a bit of money to invest in how the Pozzo's feel fit to do so. It would also provide a nice kick back after they've just splashed out and provide them with a nice sign of what the academy can do once players have had a few good seasons with us. As I've stated, I'd be amazed if he stayed but fair play if he leaves.
If the takeover had gone through two or three weeks earlier, I think Mariappa might have stayed. He is the only player with one year left on his contract who would definitely walk into Zola's starting eleven, so I think we could have offered him enough money to tempt him. Couple that with a clause which allowed him to leave next summer if we didn't go up, and I think there was a deal to be done. As things stand, I think it's a little bit too late to convince him that we're that keen on keeping him. I blame Eddie Oshodi's mate.
Why would it be too late to tempt him with that now that the takeover has actually happened...wouldn't that make him feel more confident about things at Watford, and tempt him to stay?
Sky Sports News ‏@SkySportsNews Sky Sources: Watford defender Adrian Mariappa to have medical at Reading today #SSN Either they have upped their offer a fair wack, or we have lowered the asking price. I though they were about £1m off the price last time??
2.8m would be reasonable. 4 would be fantastic. I guess we will never know, cos it will no doubt be undisclosed.
Damn. Will that mean I have to hope Reading stay up? Can't see myself doing that down here surrounded by them!
The ground re-development is on hold as explained in the WO. http://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sport/9814948.No_time_frame_for_Vicarage_Road_redevelopment/ It does make sense financially to do it when the need is there, but I did think that they might have wanted to sort the SW corner and move the dressing rooms over. It does seem that over a number of things we are getting some straight answers, rather better than being told what they think we want to hear.
If we sell Maps I guess the money can't be used for transfers in only 30% or whatever the number is while the bonds are still in place. A bit academic but money for transfers in will have to be new money as I understand it.
More from the WO. Lots of comment, but still nothing for certain. http://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sp...e_will_be_no_interference_in_team_selection_/
Not sure why Duxbury's comments on the stadium were taken as a joke. He was just stating the obvious: when 17,000 seats are no longer enough, the Pozzos have the will and the means to build.
I think most fans would rather money was spent on a winning team than building a stand which statys empty if the team isn't performing..
It is not a good time to talk stands and stadia to the Pozzo family. http://elcentrocampista.com/2012/06/political-row-breaks-in-granada-over-stadium-finances/
Dylan Fahy ‏@dylan_fahy Bergamese media suggesting Pippo Inzaghi will join ‪#Watfordfc‬ on a pay-as-you-play deal. Interesting..must be mainly coming as a coach and cover if we get an injury crisis..mind you he'd be better than Garner when agred 90 let alone nearly 40!
