I really, really hope this is true. The lad is a great passer and strong as an ox. He also fits the MON 'profile' of buying players who have not quite reached their potential and who are maybe looking for a new start. He is only 25 as well so loads of time to develop even further. NOW I am excited!!!

Who at the AOL? Let me tell ya... MARCOS Angeleri is back on Wearside as Sunderland continue their efforts to offload the flop defender. The Argentine has spent the past two days at the Academy of Light as negotiations over the full-back’s return to his homeland drag on. But that shouldn’t be taken as a sign that Angeleri has a future in the Premier League, with Sunderland hopeful that new interest in the 29-year-old will finally bring a conclusion to his protracted exit. Angeleri has not been training with Sunderland’s first-team squad, with Martin O’Neill instead choosing to blend the club’s young professionals into the early pre-season training programme. Billy Knott, Louis Laing, John Egan, Craig Lynch, Adam Reed, Ryan Noble, Roarie Deacon and Blair Adams all trained alongside the first team yesterday and several of that group are expected to play a part in next week’s tour to South Korea. The summer’s departures, plus extended breaks for Sunderland’s four Euro 2012 participants and African duo Ahmed Elmohamady and Stephane Sessegnon, would have left O’Neill with just 15 senior pro’s at his disposal in Korea. The contingent from the second string will boost that number, although Angeleri is not expected to play a part. The Echo reported last week how Angeleri’s ill-feted two-year spell at the Stadium of Light was set to reach an imminent conclusion, with the 29-year-old close to agreeing a return to former club Estudiantes. While Angeleri remains perched next to the Stadium of Light exit door, the right-back’s likely destination looks to have changed. San Lorenzo have made a last-gasp bid to sign Angeleri from under the noses of fellow Argentine outfit Estudiantes and are now in pole position to capture him. Angeleri spent a month training with Estudiantes over the summer after O’Neill consented to the former Argentina international heading to South America in search of a new club. Estudiantes held several rounds of talks with Angeleri and he had even undergone a medical at the club where he began his career. But despite existing right-back Gabriel Mercado’s move to River Plate, Estudiantes dragged their heels over finalising the switch. That has opened the door for San Lorenzo with the Buenos Aires-based outfit approaching Angeleri’s agent and offering him a contract. San Lorenzo are still to finalise a deal with Sunderland after Estudiantes had mooted the idea of a season-long loan, which would have covered the final year of his contract on Wearside. But Sunderland will not put any hurdles in the way of Angeleri’s exit, with the Black Cats eager to cut their losses on a player who has featured just three times for the first team since arriving in a £1.5million deal in the summer of 2010. Although Angeleri has now recovered from the long-standing knee injuries which have plagued his Sunderland career, O’Neill revealed at the end of last season that he was happy to let the homesick defender leave the club. And Sunderland are hopeful he will become the latest unwanted player off the wage bill after Cristian Riveros, George McCartney and Asamoah Gyan have all left the club this summer.
