What do you reckon? http://www.twtd.co.uk/news.php?storyid=21004&title=town_target_tottenhams_aussie_kid Reports in South Wales suggest that Tom Heaton is coming to Portman Road
Heaton would be fantastic, bloody fantastic in fact! the young spurs kid, don't know anything about him so can't really comment!
I think the links we have with Spurs through Brian Klug and Tim Sherwood will see a few young talented kids come our way in the future.
I reckon this could be a loan so no thanks. Even having the incredible Gio on loan didn't move us any further forward.
We need some creativity in the midfield and this kid may provide us with a great option even as an impact sub!
Not fussed regarding the loan but we need to get a keeper in. Heaton or Loach would be very interesting!
we do need to add to an option to the midfield but Im not sure creativity is what we are after. If we continue along the 4-2-3-1 formation we surely have adequate creativity and attacking options there. For me we need another sitting/ defensive/ holding player as we no longer have Bowyer or Leadbitter which really only leaves Hyam with a defensive mind.
chairman of one of their supporters clubs has said he thinks Keane is the ideal man for the job and wants them to pull out all of the stops to get him!! At least there will only be 2 relegation places for us to avoid if he does go there as they will certainly claim the 3rd.
Completely agree with this. I think we've got enough creative players in the midfield (my how things have changed, not long ago we were arguing we need more creativity), for me we need 1 more CM to give Hyam a bit of competition, a solid CM not neccessarily defensive although this would be ok. I thought Hayden Mullins who's just gone to Birmingham would have been ideal. A bit of experience in the midfield but not someone likely to completely block the progress of Hyam, i.e he's getting on abit. I'd be against getting loans in this year really unless it is with a view to getting a permanent transfer in or for injury or if we are desperate especially in CM as I feel we are fairly decent there and would likely stop the progress of players. As for the situation a Forrest, looks like they may well struggle, despite the money invested!! They have no CB's and if Keane goes there, well that would be interesting!!! I really think our strength over the next few years could be continuity. Look at how many clubs are continuously rebuilding and changing managers and players. We need a few seasons of building and I'm sure we will be one of the better teams in the league maybe not this season but next. Stability is what we need now.
I've got no problem with a season long loan its pretty much just a short contract but that said i would expect any loan players to be first team regulars as it seems silly to be paying them to not play..........................Imo.
I just want us to sign a couple of keepers and another CB...! A couple of signings and everything in the garden is rosie.....
loans work IF handled correctly. Take Norwich when they went up - Pacheco / Lansbury certainly helped no ends Reading last season - Roberts may have got them over the line. Take us - * Stockdale as number 1 goalkeeper with a 24 hour recall = pure madness. * Wabara and Livermore came to sit on the bench If a player comes before the season starts on a season long loan that improves us, what's the issue? Likewise, if we're doing well come January and we need a player to help shore up a position that's causing hassle and the player has good quality, again, what's the issue? In 04/05 David Unsworth was a masterstroke of a loan signing at LB. Before that, we had Karbyasoon in some games playing there and he was abysmal!
I forgot about Unsworth, he was great. Slow as an arthritic slug but what a left peg. Nearly as good as Veno!!!!!!!!!! Karbassiyoon was indeed ****. Cos he came from Arsenal everyone thought he would be good, but he was not... I'm starting to think that Jewell is waiting for a Premier League keeper to become available because he's wanting games. Yup, Stockdale, season long loan, no recall. I'd take it, yay or nay?
when have we ever had success with a loan?! The problem is that you're developing someone else's player when you could be developing your own. We should never need any loans - young players should be filling in the gaps of senior players.
