In all honesty, and I've been doing this for a long long time, I've never felt so confident about the upcoming season. I believe we have the best manager in this league, I also believe we have the best managed club (from the owners perspective) in this league too. Factor in a good core team, with some bloody good additions so we now actually have strength in depth, then yes, I fully believe we can be a top 2 club this year.

I still think we need a lot of players for the depth. Even if we accept Olofinjana, McShane, and Simpson as though they're new players we're still light a big defender til Xmas, at least 2 wingers, a big striker, and someone who can play a similar way to Koren (obviously we won't get one to the same level, but just so the tactics don't have to change too much).

I think we will try and offload Oli, Macca & Simmo. I think Will Keane will be the centre back we try and sign on loan with a couple of midfielders/wingers signing (two of Tunnicliffe, Coutts, Greek God). Obviously we are looking to bring in a big striker but who knows who that will be.

I think a top 6 finish is well within our reach

After last seasons results I don't think you can rule anyone out or take any game as a 3 pointer. I dare say it will be very close again and I fully expect those that challenged last season will do so again this year. Add to that Leeds (if the takeover goes through) Watford and Forest both with large investments and Leicester with money in the bank and it is going to be very tight.

This is not a WU and I accept everyone has a differing opinion but I truly believe Bruce is an awful (maybe too strong, average at best) manager, when we were linked with him I honestly breathed a sigh of relief when it turned out to be Warnock.

    Keith Hill
    Ian Holloway
    Owen Coyle
    Gus Poyet
    Neil Warnock
    Malky Mackay

That would be my top list of managers, Bruce would be in my next bracket including Grayson, Pearson, Clark and Jones.

    Only opinion's though <ok>

Bruce who has consistently been the best English manager in the Premier league for 10 years? Righto!

Excitedly anticipating an enjoyable season. Not felt like that for quite a few years either.

Keith Hill...... ha ha ha, yeah he's done loads more than Bruce i mean he did get promotion for Rochdale after 2 previous failed attempts. What a coaching pedigree he's got!

I am not here to argue over Bruce, it is just my opinion and what would be the point in arguing? If you genuinely believe he is the best English manager in the last 10 years then it would be pointless as you are clearly in need of medical attention..

    Bruce Win % = 36.54
    Hill Win % = 40.86

One promotion from the Championship via the playoffs and a penalty shoot out and one promotion with Birmingham when he had the largest transfer budget in the division. Add to this always struggling with teams and eventually getting the sack when involved in the premier league, I still don't understand why so many Hull fans rate him so highly.

Different leagues though, at least if you're quoting win ratios, quote them from managers that have been in the same division. Chump <ok>

Bruce has predominantly managed in the Premiership and Hill in Leagues 1 & 2! You cannot compare the two

That only tells a small part of the story. The majority of Hill's wins have come at a lower level in the league. His winning percentage at this level is 27%. Warnock's win % is 38.92 (21.43 at Leeds).

Stats aside, I do rate Hill as a manager and think he is doing a good job at a club with one of the smallest budgets in the Championship.

So on what basis do you feel he is the best English Manager in the last 10 years?

I accept it was just a quick and probably poor stat pulled out in reply to the guy laughing at Clint Hill. Like you say, a lot more to him considering what he has done with the funds made available.

He has been the only ENGLISH manager to consistently finish in the top half of the Premier League. Redknapp aside, who only had 3 decent seasons at Spurs.

I think he is one of the only English manager outside of Redknapp and Hodgson (who are miles better than him anyway).

No, overall he's been better IMHO when you take into account resources (Wigan).
