Wiggins gained 1'.43" on Evans: now 1'. 53" ahead. Chris Froome now only 14 secs behind Evans. Chapeau! Chapeau!
Don't they know they're there just to entertain us. They should do some sort of Takeshi's castle game show on their rest days.
That's what I thought. How did he get caught for attempting to take something? Did he miss, or did he try to take it in full view of everyone??
Having never had an interest in it I'm finding myself getting dragged along to watch the stage on Sunday (We're on holiday not far from it). Has anyone been to watch it before? Not sure what to expect!
The race itself - it'll likely flash past. The associated 'floorshow' of fans could be interesting........
Obviously, but I was thinking given how many people that turn out to watch it that it can't possibly be that boring.
Get there early - there is a huge promo train that blazes through in advance of the ride. Lots of freebie tops and caps etc... Find a STEEP part of the course, so you will get chance to see the riders. On the flat they are doing close on 40mph at times. Best bit is the steeper parts of the big, long climbs where the riders will be strung out and you'll see more. Sadly, those parts are the hardest walk to get to and will be hard to park in. Look forward to a liquid mass of noise and riders flying past in a blur. It is something you'll not forget - the biggest show on earth and the only chance people ever get to walk alongside the greatest athletes going...
They have to be totally bonkers to take any form of drug...cycling must be one of the most drug tested sports in the world...probably due to its poor history of drug abuse...they must know they will get caught surely.
Today...the Alps! Macon - Bellegarde-sur-Valserine 194.5km. 1 x Cat3; 1 x Cat 2 and 1 x HC(1,501m). As Wiggins has nearly 2 minutes lead, the rest will have to attack. No taking it easy! And Sky will have to look after Bradley if they can....
there are plenty of hard working and mercurial road-racers out there on the tour , but all their hard work is tarnished by the murky finger of suspicion , I dont know when the true athletes will get the respect they deserve but i for one arnt interested in this drug fuelled sport. It looks like super Lance is gonna come unstuck too
Well....Wiggins finished 3'16" down on the first rider, Thomas Voeckler, but then so did Cadel Evans, Vincenzo Nibali, Nicolas Roche, Denis Menchov and Chris Froome. Overall: Wiggins leads Evans by 1'53"; Froome is 14 secs behind Evans; Nibali 16" down on Froome; Menchov 39" behind Nibali. Nibali split the Sky riders, who were shepherding Wiggins, so only Froome finished with the leader. Richie Porte was the next Sky rider in, at 3'40" off the lead. Michael Rogers punctured and was unable to get back, finishing at 9'07". Tomorrow, it's likely another rider/team will 'have a go' at Wiggins and Sky.
